I collect my hearing aids in the next week, new to hearing aids been told severely to profoundly deaf (aged 60) what type of ear moulds will I have full or Skeletal?

Probably full, but why didn't you discuss it when you had impressions made?

To be honest I was in shock that my hearing was so bad, I think I refused to accept the clues and muddled along, then thought of questions. Still unsure what to expect now.

Usually you can get them remade at no charge if you don't like them.

I get 90 days to have them redone if I don't like them for any reason.

Even if the color is not quite right.

I have behind the ear hearing aids. I choose the soft molds. I also just choose flesh colored molds because I don't like it to look to flashy at my age. I've seen some kids with different colors and it looks cool on them when I was a kid they didn't have all the different colors. Keep in mind anytime you get new molds it will be uncomfortable for a week or two. If it just plane hurts take them back. But I suggest when you get a chance take them out every so often and massage your ear. Ask your audiologist for advice on getting comfortable with them at 1st

Wear them as often as you can. Ask her if there is a lotion or anything she recommends that will help without causing ear infection.

Also sore spots can be removed from the earmolds. You will probably need to have the Audi tweak the molds a few times to get the comfortable long term fit

That was something I was going to ask, how long I should wear them at first.

Hearing aids need to be worn all the time: minus bath, shower and sleeping. The longer you wear them, the faster you'll get used to them. My father just got his second pair of hearing aids after a first pair that did nothing. He almost gave up but the new ones (Widex) have been really wonderful. Think of them as opening up your world, they can be a lot of fun so embrace it. Congrats on the new hearing aids.

Earmolds should never hurt, ever, so you should be able to wear them from the start as long as you want to. Since you are getting and working with someone from the NHS don't leave the office if the molds aren't comfortable from the start because you might have to wait awhile to get back in for them to be modified. Good luck!
