I am a hearie from Colorado.
Both my older brother and fraternal twin sister have Meniers disease. I am not sure how much of their hearing is effected, but both of them are experiencing hearing loss.
Interestingly enough, their Meniers had nothing to do with my passion to learn ASL and work in/for the Deaf community. I have always had that passion inside. My sister and I were in special ed and met deaf people through that.
My friend Kristen, who has Cochlear implant, and I are practicing our signing together. She was taught through the oral method and wants to learn ASL. Our practicing sessions have been so beneficial to both of us.
I look forward to meeting new people on AllDeaf.
