Hi,

I am recently (but completely) deaf, and I just discovered this site this evening. I've only been deaf for about two months, and I've really been looking for other deaf people to talk to. My hearing loss is a result of a series of complications from a liver transplant in September, and it occurred over the course of about four months. I've gotten pretty good at reading lips, and I'm planning to learn some sign language this summer with my family. We can already fingerspell, if at a snail's pace.

I have alot of questions, and I hope I can find the right areas to post them. I've also never posted to a chat room before, so please be patient. I try to keep a positive attitude about this new challenge, since I'd rather be in control of it than the other way around. Anyway, I'm glad to be here (on so many levels).

Hello !! :):):)

Have fun learning Sign language!! :)

:welcome: to AllDeaf! I am sure you are overwhelmed with this change of your life but you seem to have a positive attitude about it. I was born deaf so I dont know what it is like to be hearing but I live a full life now as well as many other deaf people do.

Enjoy learning sign language...I learned it at 25 years old..took me about 5 years to become fluent. Some people, it takes them a couple of years.

wellcome gallen
