Hi, you can call me Anna. I have always had one non-functioning ear.
Because of cholesteatomas and gradual sensinural loss, I dont have much left in the other ear....its around 65 and worse...at one point its 100. so, what am i classified as (out of curiosity)
I was fired from my job when i went thru my last operation that took most of what i had left of hearing....nice world...life goes on...now i have moved back to where i grew up and live out in the country where i really dont talk to any one but my family....and a few close friends and of course the hubby and kids....
any input would be great on what everyone considers me....
 
Hi! Consider you, as in your hearing loss?

One ear profound loss and one ear moderate loss.
 
some people introduce me as deaf and some people introduce me as hard of hearing...which am i
 
Hi Anna. Welcome to AD!

You are whatever YOU want to be called. Spend some time here and read up about the many different facets of Deafness. You'll figure out soon enough what you feel comfortable with. You define your own identity, not others.

Hey I've had many ear probs like infections & stuff, & right now i cant hear out of my right ear haven't been able to for at least 4 or 5 mos. I learned 2 yrs of ASL in HS & i've been signing for 4 yrs now I'm probably not considered Deaf, but i'm still planning on becoming a Professional ASL Translator.
 
oh wow... we seem very similar! ME TOO! LE cholesteatoma 91, RE same as you too, plus MCTD which may have caused it. I think you would like the late deaf forum. They are a super nice bunch. As far as what to call you? What does your audiologist say? Like they should know.. Mine tells me I'm deaf once a year, but my md says HOH. I say deaf. It is what you feel that fits. Welcome to AD, and I just know that you will find lots of interesting people and posts here. So many nice folks.
