Hi There
A friend of mine pointed me to this group and from what I've read it looks like a really nice place to be.
I was born with sensorineural hearing loss probably from low birthrate, although I haven't been formally told what has caused my hearing loss (if I lost it to start with having been born with it)
I'm happily married to my husband Rob, we have two cats, and I enjoy a myriad of hobbies from website design right to birdwatching and camping.
I was raised to think that I don't have a disability per se, and was definitely not treated like I was different. I went to a normal public school (with some degree of difficulty because of background noise and the fact that kids can be really mean....) and attended speech therapy.
My biggest beef with those who have "perfect hearing" is the fact that just because I wear hearing aids does not mean I have superstrong Superman quality type hearing. I still can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine and it drives me nuts when people use the excuse "Oh well your hearing loss doesn't bother me I always forget you have one because you talk normal" or if I say "Pardon?" I sometimes get "Never Mind" GRRR!!!!!
Movies are a problem because they don't typically put Closed Captions in the theatres, music I enjoy but can't hear the lyrics LOL
Eh, enough of my rant... LOL
Nice to meet y'all!
