hi...my name's Hope and I'm almost 22. I'm hard of hearing, but hearing aids do nothing at all for me. The doctor's describe my hearing as this (to someone who can hear normally): place a box over your head and keep playing with the volume on the tv. I lip read and went through private catholic school as well as public school (both two of the top schools in my state) and graduated with amazing grades. My doctors had me learn to play the drums as a way to keep my coordination up and help with my balance (and I do wear musicians' ear plugs when I play), With that said, I did manage to enter right into Berklee College of Music right out of school (placing my doctors in shock) and apparently I am now used as a motivational story for younger kids in the area. I am now at MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN. I have yet to learn to sign but that will come in due time.

Anyways, came across this website after my balance was thrown WAY off last night and thought it would be good to join so I can talk to others like me...especially when problems arise having to do with my hearing and all. :)

Welcome, welcome, welcome! And good work on getting into Berklee! That's a great school and a lot of excellnt musicans have gone there.

Drum Monkey,
Are you still in Murfreesboro, TN? I am an ASL student, and I am interested in starting an ASL Meetup group in Murfreesboro. I was thinking about meeting at a Starbucks or Panera Bread once a month and just signing away with anyone who's interested. Have you learned ASL, or do you know anyone else in Murfreesboro who might be interested? Let me know!

DrumMonkey posted only once. Almost 3 years ago. They probably aren't coming back.:P
