New here with questions!

Las Vegas does not have a good general job market, most of the growth is from retirees, casino and entertainment employees migrating there. You might try re-consider something better. Las Vegas is also too sprawling, too. My friend who's deaf couldn't even find a job in Las Vegas when he was there.

The weather is too untoleratable in summer times, most will stay indoors or swim at the water park to keep cool under the sweltering heat. The same goes with Phoenix, too.

Downtown Las Vegas is weak on attractions, nightlife, entertainment compared to Seattle or Bellevue or other cities. So that's why there's a "downtown out from nowhere" on the Las Vegas strip, I don't like sprawling hotels all over the place instead of in one area. Their skyline is unimpressive.

I suggest you to research more on other better places to live than Las Vegas,

Again don't worry about it, too. You're not a little boy lol, but you may have some restrictions, ya know? You are allowed to go and live wherever you want to. You have your own rights.

Thanks for a very nice reply :)

Wow finally a better reply of all in this thread :)

Well, I am a professional janitor. Yeah the job market might be awful there, but for my kind of position, it shouldn't be that bad.

About Seattle or Bellevue you mentioned to, I live in Vancouver, Washington which are right across the river from Portland, Oregon (which has attractive downtown and skyline), that area are only 2 hours away from Seattle. I have been there for whole my life (20 years), and the weather doesn't matter to me really because I believe every weather has its own problem. Washington, the famous rainy state, have leaking in the house problems while dessert places don't. The dessert places have problems with bugs while rainy places don't.

I've been at Las Vegas about over 10 times for the family visiting, and some just for fun. You are right, the skyline of Las Vegas are messed up, but their skyscrapers are wonderful. Also yeah you are right, the truth downtown Las Vegas are very forgettable, people might thought the strip (where the semi big casnios and lights are at) are Las Vegas's "downtown".

But, how about Reno? Reno have the good skyline, the better than Las Vegas (I believe), and has more snow ski, lakes, rivers, some of forest compare to Las Vegas. The problem is, Reno don't have good deaf community there.

Again, of course you are right, I should research about other towns, not just only Las Vegas.

Thanks again! :)

Thanks Thanks ^-^

I would like to hear about the deafies in Las Vegas or in Nevada..

What I know about the deafies in Las Vegas, there's the Deaf Poker Tourament from Deaf Nation (I think?) and also there's Coffee Chat for the deafies.

About the deaf school in Las Vegas, I know there's a Las Vegas Charter School for the Deaf, but I visited their website and they only show the article saying that they are closed since 2004 and are looking for the space renting for deaf pre school.

Also I know there's a "Deaf Las Vegas" website, but too few informations there.

It seems like Nevada state has some problems about the deafies in Nevada, and I would like to give some help. Anyone knows about the deafies in Las Vegas or Nevada? I would like to hear about it. Thank you everyone.

Hey... you can discuss with Nesmuth.... he is deaf activist in California... he did told me he got some group to donate money to deaf school in Las Vegas... I dont know much.. i did not question him... YOu can discuss with him... Perhaps he has more informations.... Good Luck... Again... I did recalled his mentioned couple times he found some grant money for deaf school in Las Vegas... try to talk to him to get more informations more clearly...

You're welcome! :D I don't know much about Reno, but it's a nice little city with lots of recreational activities since they got mountains to hike, ski, biking, etc. That's all I know, I guess.

I'm also a janitor, too. I work at the Everett Naval Station which is north of Seattle if you didn't know.

I don't know much about Reno but I used to live in Las Vegas for about one year when I was about your age 24 years ago...:ty:
Yes, there was a lot of deaf people living in there although it looked like most of them were much older than I was. I was busy, gambling almost everyday:whip: for casinos were so much fun and exciting back then. It was so easy to be addictive to casinos.
Finally I got married so we moved out of LV.
No clue or ideas about deaf schools or anything I do know that in 1980's they sent Nevada deaf school kids to Idaho school for the deaf because there was no deaf school there. Now I don't know what is update sorry.
Welcome here, I am also new in this community.

Sorry, I am back, I was having trouble with the line, anyway thanks everyone :)
