New here- recent Post CI surgery user with some questions..

I don't know about AB, but with the Nucleus Freedom you have a 10 year warranty for the internal device, and a 3 year warranty for the external device.
basically all three implants maker cover their internal implant for 10 years but they expect them to last during their life. as for external device, it varies, I mean for example the T-mic earhook is 1 year while the processor module is 3 and rechargeable battery is 3 (number is not exact but example) so not all external parts are set to same numbers of years though.

To take this one step further, you can get "insurance" to keep it covered after the 3 year warranty.

Making a long story short, I was in a study and during that time I had the device they gave me. The only problem I had with the study's model was the LED screen not displaying information properly. It wasn't a problem with determining which program I was on as it beeps that info. It was the volume and sensitivity where it would have been problematical (they replaced it). Later, I received my first CI (silver) in the Fall of '05 and it had the same problem which they promptly replaced as it was under warranty. I got my second CI (blue) in Spring of '06 and I had no problems with that one so far. In the state I live, they give you two CIs but my second one which was blue and it took them longer to finally get the "color" approved by the FDA. The warranties for each are basically 3 years from when you receive them. You bet I'll get the extended insurance to cover them. They cost too much otherwise. ;)

I wonder how much is the extended warranty/insurance?

Actually I already have separate insurance on my CI to cover me for loss, theft and damage.

Not exactly sure but somewhere like $100 a year or something like that. Well worth it I say.

what R2D2 Said

not extended warranty but separate insurance like you would get one if you are renter or drive car or whatever. one would want a insurance for their ci.

I have posted that info and link several times in AD but I know it get buried somewhere under old date heading eh. but I"ll post the link again :D

Welcome to ESCO

they do coverage for any hearing device, HA or CI.

see my previous post for link to site that offer coverage for your CI but you can check with your own insurance provider to see if they does offer one

My wife and I insured Lillys CI in our homeowners policy. If anything everhappend to it, we make a claim and it gets replaced.
I would really hate to make a claim on homewoners, but if necessary, that will happen.
On a related note, there is now a national database that tracks homeowners cliams. If you make too many, you will bessentially uninsurable.

Yeah - that's why I like having a separate policy for my CI. Plus it was going to be more expensive to include it in our home insurance policy. We are fortunate that there is an insurance broker here whose daughter has a CI and he negotiated a stand alone insurance policy for CI owners with a large insurance company here in Australia.

OT We are going to make a claim on our home insurance policy for the very first time ever in our 14 years of marriage! My husband accidently dropped my Canon Rebel 300D camera and it no worko.

I may check into insuring the CI differently in the future. We are content with what we have for now.

Hey anyone have an AIM so I can talk to someone who is a CI user else ASAP?

I'm kinda concerned about one thing and i need to talk to someone privately!

Thanks..

My im is bellafarfalla155
