Hello from San Antonio. Welcome to AD. I've been posting since January and this is a pretty good bunch - most of them most of the time. :)

Give me a yell if you're close to SA and I'll let you know about any events coming up. The biggest one I know about is NAD (Nat'l Assoc. of the Deaf) in Austin June or July.

You mean TAD (Texas Assoc. of the Deaf) in Austin -- in 2 weeks of June. I am former Texan, too. My old childhood friend is director of pageant for TAD.

Hello and welcome to Alldeaf Amy! Interesting to see that you're an EMT, just wondering if you use any special modified instruments to compensate for lack of not being able to fully hear? Anyhow, hope your stay here will be a great one! ;)

Hey Roadrunner and everybody

Hello. I had computer problems lately so I wasn't able to get back to this site...Ugh.

Well, to answer your question Roadrunner...I didn't use any special equipment as my good ear can hear highs and lows in a regular stethoscope (lung sounds and blood pressure). I just train my partners that I have problems with the radios...I can understand numbers over it but not all the words. I used a hearing aid in my bad ear to pick up sounds around me but not for speech. I am a fluent lip reader and there are plenty of background noises in the truck depending on if it is old or not. The new trucks have less noise which I like the best, but I don't have a choice in the matter.

Great to be back on this site!

Hello Amy, and welcome to AD! This is a great place to meet friends - do have fun posting here with us. I look forward to getting to know you. ;)

 :welcome: Hello and welcome to AD Amytxn4, it's great to have you here on this forum with us.

I am sorry about your divorce, but, I admire your strength to move on and be there for your children. I hope someday you will be able to get back into your profession as EMT.

Good luck with everything, I look forward to your postings. Have a great day!! ;)
