new deaf town?

You would have to learn Italian Sign Language to get to stay there. Know any American ones?

No, but you can always stay at Hassler as a tourist. ;) There is the "Universal Sign Language" or International sign language to live on....

I wouldn't want to stay in an Alldeaf town! I love diverse population, so having just deaf people there, nah no thanks. I would go as a tourist though to see how it is, but I'd rather live in the "normal" world where everything is challenging and fun. :)

this town in SD doesn't mean all deaf people will live there.. it means mixed hearing and hard of hearing and deafies.. but all use ASL there..

Define normal.... hey you left yourself open, Kootchie! :)

Read the links I provided a bit more carefully :) They just want the residents to be able to sign, even if they are hearing or deaf. It also doesnt have mean the residents will never visit Europe or anywhere else if they live in Laurent. :D

I guess we'll wait and see what happens. I hope the "real" world learns something from Laurent.... if that town has something valuable to offer.

if It become successful up there then maybe each state should have their own one town for deaf community like that as I think it would be good idea... so don't u agree with that idea ???

depends on the state's deaf population. I know that Sulphur, Oklahoma is a "deaf town" because of nearby school for the deaf.

not all deaf are same race, religion, creed, etc.......we are all different with one thing in common :)

yeah I have been in that town cuz i have allot of relatives live nearby that area ... nice town !!

yeah i learned about this very recently ...
i hope they make a list of rules in that deaf town:
Give them tickets fees for
any hearing people using voices if they do NOT use sign language
then they should get charged and fined just like these
traffic violation tickets...
and all deaf people MUST be in CEO positions and
upper managements (with hiring authorities) while all hearing people
do the work under these Deafies... Cool !!!!

(p.s. just half-joke )
