.. alone in a car!!!,

even if you are going to be gone just for just a second!! This one second is enought to get your child abducted along with your car being stolen.

I watched bit's of today's news from Washington in disbelief- a lady left her baby (son, I think) fastened in the car seat AND with the keys in and the car running!!! and just " dashed to some toy's store to ask if they have what she's looking for".

It was enough for someone to stole the car with her child inside.
She spent agonizing 90 minutes before her baby was returned to her.
I was too late to see the particulars but never mind,
for heavens sake , in this age and day who ever leaves a child unattended anywhere, and for cripes sake in a running car at that ????
She and her baby were so lucky!

NEVER EVER THINK ABOUT IT !!! take your child with you even if removing it from car takes longer than the task at hand.

Of course it's parent's responsibly to make sure their baby's safe.

I've seen parents leavin' their kids in their car soo many times.... mostly at the parkin' lots. Sometimes, one of the parents stay with their kids while the other parent went inside the store to pick up somethin'.

Sometimes, I've seen some mothers yelled at her kids for playin' with their car -- like for instance : mothers sometimes forgot to set the brake on otherwise, kids will play with steerin' wheel by pullin' the shift or automatic in reverse and the car will hit other car in the rear.

Never hit/ or yell at the kids - it's the parents' responsibility, not the kids'. Take up their own responsibility or pay their own penalities.

Also when its hot outside I've seen babies died from heat stroke because temperature inside the vehicle was 130 degrees, it doesn't matter if it's 80 degrees or 90's outdoors, the car gets hotter fast. (even if the windows are down alittle)

I've seen most babies trapped in the car seat while mother or father run a quick errand. I have report on a vehicle that left a baby in the back seat alone, I went in the store and told them to call the police. They should know better than that, You cannot leave any child in the car alone not for a minute, not for a second because all those seconds could meant your child's life.

Aside from the car being stolen... kids can suffer the high heat if it's sunny outside. One guy left his kid in the car while he went out in the woods. The kid died.

Exactly

Yes you doing right to protect babies. I would do the same if I see babies alone in the car because it's unsafety condition to leave them alone in the car.

Yes, exactly that's what I say that it's parent's responsibly to make sure their babies to be safety.

I just can't image leaving my own kids in car alone!!! That is a BIG FAT :nono: Disaster among kids can happen in no time!!! One second is TOOOOOO LONGGGGG!!!

I'm so against those parents out there who leaves their children in the car while they're shopping....It's makes me real mad, cause anything could happen when you're not around....

As what Cheri had said above is true, the child could die in the result of overheat in a car during a hot weather.....

I have seen many, yet I don't let them get away with it! I say something about it....

If you see a child alone in the car, don't be scare to say something, cause you're saving the child's life is what important than minding your own business...

I always go to Serve gas station if i'm alone w/ kids. I always bring kids w/ me even for a min or more. For my safety and caution.

One time I saw a car parked at a shopping center with two young children inside, alone. They were playing with matches and incense sticks. I calmly said to them that playing with fire is not safe. Then I said, "Can I have the matches please?" So they gave me the book of matches. Then I started going into the store. Suddenly, the mom showed up, and ran after me, yelling. She said, "Why did you take my matches!?" I explained to her that her little children were alone in the car playing with fire (I didn't even get a chance to tell her that all kinds of other awful things could have happened to her kids, too). She demanded that I pay for the matches! So I did. I told her it was worth it to me to keep her kids safe.

Another time, I was driving thru an apartment complex and I saw a very young girl playing in the parking lot, in a puddle, all by herself. I thought that was weird. So I stopped and looked around. I thought, maybe the mom or babysitter is near by and I just don't see her. I looked and looked. No one was there. I drove up closer, opened my car door, and spoke to the girl. I asked, "Where are your parents?" She shrugged that she didn't know. I asked, "Are you supposed to talk to strangers?" She just looked confused.

I stayed with her for several minutes, talking. I was hoping someone would come running out of the building and demand what was going on. Nothing. I could have easily kidnapped the child. Finally, I parked my car and went to the girl and said, "Where do you live? Can you lead me to the apartment door?" So I followed her to apartment. It was down a hall, around a corner. I knocked at the door. A man answered the door. It was the dad. He was not concerned. He wanted to know what I wanted. I told him what happened. He got mad at me! He said, "Her mom just went to the store for a few minutes. I'm watching her. I look out the window to check on her when the commercials come on. There is no problem." I was shocked! I checked my car clock. I was outside with that girl, alone, for at least 15 minutes, and NO ONE came outside to see what happened.

All this happened several years ago, before I had a cell phone. If I had a phone, I probably would have called the police first.

We refused leave the key in the car.. While I'm pumping the gas and leave the child in the car... When I'm ready to go pay up the gas station.. and will ask my kids, Do you want buy anything from gas store? I know My kids always get off the car and run w/me into the gas store.. to buy something cold drink..

We don't like leave the children in the car..
I've seen so many youngest children likely range babies to Toddlers. Even 8 yrs old to up are mostly stay in the car and lock the door to prevent stranger open the car door.
My children are sometimes stay in the car... While I'm get the tiny things at the variety store likely eg: Milk or bread or something.. My kids will not let open the car door for stranger..

I do not agree w/other people who leave their babies to toodler which can be happends in the car.

One time when my son was an infant and I went out for a walk to the store with my son in his stroller. On my way home from the store. I saw an infant in the car seat inside the car just about the same age as my son was. So as soon as I got home. I called the police and reported. The next time around, I saw the same car but no baby. They know better now. Thanks goodness.

Right now my son is 9 yrs old. I can leave him in the car and leave the door lock and no talking to stranger. I can only leave him in there for not more then 10 minutes. But most of the time he will come in and find me. :D He missed his mom. AWWWWWWWWW!!!

Unbelievable that nonsense matches is more important to a mother than worried about her children's safety & also say a word "thank you". You doing right but I would call the police on mother because it's unsafety to leave the children alone with matches IN THE car

Oh my dear!

My siblings & I stayed alone in the car at long hours often while our parents were in the Pub at afternoons/nights. (Accord British law, the children are not allow go in the pub until they are 18). We made ourselves crazier because we are tooo boring and play in the car... My sister damaged gear stick... It got us scared... We all received spanked from them because my sister denied it's her.

We visited family in England in 1991. My family asked us to go Pub with them. I remind them about the children (my sister's 3 little children). They said that they can stay in the car they often do that with no problem. I was like  and remind her about our childhood and how we feel etc. She replied that it's problem that the children are not allow to go in the Pub - who watch her children... My hubby & I offered her to watch their children to let them to go Pub to enjoy themselves. They are offended because we can't go with them.

We visited England again in Summer 2000. My Dad & brother invited my hubby & me to go Pub with them. I remind them about my children. They said that they can stay in the car, then we can check many time whatever we like. I rejected and offered my hubby to go with them to let me to stay home with my children. My Dad aplogized and offer me & children to stay outside of Pub with them. I know the British people see okay to have children to stay in the car... British law to allow the people from 18 years old to go in the Pub but in Germany, not. The children CAN go in the pub with us.

I was in Florida with my sister...
and she, me, and her baby were in car in garage...

She forgot something and went back in the house...

She left the car running and the garage door was still closed.

I quickly turned off the car....
and fussed at my sister to don't do that again...

because me and the baby would have die monoxide poison...

I can't believe my sister was so stupid and careless.

Reba, :eek2:

What a story you got there, I cannot believe how parents can be so upright stupid! They have no business having kids the first place when they are not being responsible for the safely of their own children.

Don't get me wrong, I learned from my mistakes.. my car was parked in the driveway at home.. that time my daughter turned 1.. i put her in a carseat and buckled her up.. and had my car running with the a/c on.. i forgot something in the house so i ran inside and right back out.. i found that i locked my keys in the car with my daughter in it..(it was like 100 F outside) i freaked out and got scared, i didn't have an extra key to get the car door open.. so i called the sheriff and got him to come and unlock the door.. he couldn't do it so he called the locksmith and was going to charge me 50 dollars.. i was like.. fine.. i deserved it! The sheriff asked me what happened, I explained to him he said okay.. make sure it don't happen again.. never never never again i leave my kid in the car for 2 seconds... the locksmith felt bad for me and didn't charge me for it... I was soo shook up.. about to have a nervous breakdown..

i've always seen parents leave their kids in car to pay gas inside.. this is why i have credit card so i can pay at the pump...
