Neglected Kids

What I find sad is when kids get so neglected to where it really shows. I hear so many things on the radio of little innocent babies being killed because of abuse, neglect, starving, thirsty, etc. One day I work part-time@subway when I was 17 or 18. a little girl walks in she was 5 years old. She walked up and asked me if 11 cents would get her a 6 inch sub. Poor thing she was so dirty, raggy clothes, scratches & brusies, and of course my 1st thought to mind was where are her parents.? But didn't matter to me I asked her if she help out me wash the tables. So she did. I told her there was restrooms she could use to get cleaned up at. So she did and I said she can have anything she wants including a 12 inch sub. So I made it for her added anything she wanted extra toppings etc. Let her have chips, cookies, and a large drink.

She handed me the 11 cents, told her to keep it I got it all taken care of. She smiles Which I thought was great because she was so scared when she 1st walked it. I understand that took alot of courage.
She starting eating that so fast because she was so hungary. Of course she left the biggest mess on that table, then all the other tables combined. Which was ok by me. Was a slow day that day. Even if it was busy I'd still would have gave her the food. I never saw her again after that.

I was still young and naive back then. But when it came to kids. I sure had a big heart for them and I only hope and pray that little girl is ok because that was 10 years ago. I am a true & proud parent of my Son & Daughter. I sure wouldn't have it any other way. And when I look into their eyes I just couldn't even imagine letting those things happen to them.

jfwildkat, I wish there were more people like you in the world! Most people would see something like that, and feel bad for a minute, but then think "it's not my problem!" But that is the attitude that allows the neglect to happen in the first place. You are a wonderful person!

Wow.. I am glad that you gave food to hungry and neglected girl. I hope she is ok. :)

I would do the same thing in a heartbeat. for showing how wonderful person you are.

Aww Jeremy.. you sure do have a big heart and that you would never let me and the kids be straved! It makes me mad that the kids are not feeded enough! It shows that some parents or relatives does not care for them and they r very selfish! they should take the kids away from those kinds of parents and put the kids in good homes! :(

Wow, that's sweet of you to do that. It does touch my heart if I see people help the kids when they are so hungry and neglected. I would do same thing that you did, I'm glad that you have a big and soft heart ;)

Your absolutley right jillio. Problem with people now-a-days They just don't care. You know I told this story not to look good or nothing. I truley do have a heart for kids that are in need for help. No matter what the situation is. Their so preious, so little, grown right before your eyes. It's just an amazing thing to me. Before that day I didn't want any kids. But that day with that little girl@subway, really made me think alot and wanted kids someday. Also I've always wanted a daughter 1st unlike most men wanting a boy 1st. Although I am proud to had me son 1st with my wife (FelixKat930). I finaly got my daughter also I've always wanted since that day. They both make me feel so loved so proud and everyday is a challenge with them I enjoy and would never have it any other way :) :) :) :)

AWw you are so such an  We need more of you on this earth! I dont know how anyone COULD do this to little kids!! I just cant dare do this to my own kids!
If I were that kind of parent who CANT provide my kid for any thing. I would FIND a job even if its odd job. to do ANYTHING in my power to provide the kids's needs! I just cant understand why a parent who have a kid but wouldnt provide them and is too damn lazy to get her/his butt to find a job! or even go up to government center to find some help with job.. there is alot of places where u can get some help!!!

I am enraged about my husband's kids who were neglected. They were under country custody. We didn't know the children were being neglected by their mother.

We just learned that the children were first brought to this foster home. They were underweight and didnt have much of clothes. When we took them in, they were cussing and yelling, ... hitting. I am a type of person who can't stand cussing for children. We had to act quickly to discipline these children. For example, giving them time outs ... every time their behaviors had gone wrong, we gave them timeouts, then the frequent timeouts became less...and less... they learned the love and kindess from me and my husband.

We were saddened by my husband's children were neglected. But most of important of all, we show our kindess and love. They adapt really well.

Wildkat- I'm impressed. It may not mean much seeing I'm just somebody new here and all but you got my respect. I do similar things to that when I can. I think why most people don't bother to care is because they don't know the rewards of human kindness. That little girls smile must of been worth more than gold. You rock :)

Jlfwildkat, You know Jesus Christ said that if you helped somebody get something to eat it would be as if you gave Jesus Christ something to eat. It says right there in the KJV Holy Bible.

I have helped people like that before and usually it is done in private or nobody saw it, sometimes I do help people and they see it but it is not done for my own personal gain or anything like that.

I would have given her something to eat too and of course being young at that age 16 - 17 years old. I would not have known or understood completely that I was supposed to report a kid being starved.

I am sure God put her in your path that day and God made sure that girl was provided for with something to eat from you because God knew you would have helped her with something to eat for free with no strings attached at all. I am also sure that today she is a full grown young lady today living good somewhere and going to college for a good job or now has her own family with a good husband at her side. It is also good to have a moment of quiet and peace to pray for her where ever she may be today.

God Bless .....

Aww Jeremy! I'm with Jillio on this one, I too wish there were more people like you out in the society who have the heart for kids who are being neglected by their own stupid parents. Parents like that don't even deserved to have kids to begin with. I feel sorry for kids out there who are without nurturing and love by their own parents. or children who are abandoned by their own parents also. Jeremy, I am like you, I have so much heart for children, when I see one that is being neglect I'll go my way and help that child.

My son have a best friend who's mother works until 7 PM during the weekdays, she is a single mother like me, and she is not a person who would neglect her own son, But, she locked the apartment door until she arrived home to allow her son in their home. She could not even afford a day care for her own son, so I let him stay with us until his mother arrived home, he would eat dinner with us. I don't want him walking around outside all alone until 7 PM, Who knows what would happened to him, that's something I wouldn't be able to live with that myself. ;)

Thank You Dark-Half..Your right, just a big smile out of that little girl is the best reward of rememberanced I'll never forget. What this world needs is more love for their children. So many parents just don't want to take care of their kids for whatever the reason maybe. I have a 2-year old Son & a 1 year old Daughter. There's no way I'll leave their sides. I'd go hungary before they would. I'll always make sure they have everything they need like clothes, toys, etc...

Aww JLFWildKat, you sure have a good heart there...Not alot of people would do the same thing that you have done to this little girl, and having a person to talk to and advocate on the child’s behalf can make a huge difference too...and reaching out to children who struggle with abuse and neglect..It's sad that it's still happening around the world but I've always wanted to volunteer a program where they help children who's been abused and neglect because being a volunteers is having a heart of what we can do for those children by becoming a mentor, friend, and role model and all people have to do is to reach out and have a heart by helping these children...None of these children deserves to be abused or neglect, and yet it's up to each of us to make a difference in a child's life as what you did to this little girl... :)

I can see your heart really is.....

HUGE WARM HEART!!!

How's so wonderful... what you did treat a child who very hungry!
Of course, you're the best Dad because you have wonderful children! :)

I remembered last spring at work, 2 kids were so hungry for candy bars.. They came up to me, asked if they are free, and I said no.... I also asked them where their parents are.. they said they are at home. Kids was smelly, and look poor, like living in public housing project or something like that. I told them don't worry, candies are on me, and pick one, so I just took my 1.50 and paid for those kids. They asked me how to sign thanks.. so I did taught them that.

Other time, on saturday and sunday before session adjourned, there was so many kids wandering around my work and most parents who are lobbyists and legislators just let them fend for themselves off.... I feel so sorry. I wish they do something since my work isn't daycare. I wish that there is a onsite daycare but oh well....

Thank you Heath, I've told people that story later on after it happened. I was told by many that God sent her to me. I look back at it now & the way I was back then. I believe it was a test by God. One that was so unexpected to see what I do & how I'd react. I remember before that day I didn't care about nothing nor no one. I was a cold-hearted bastard I admit that back then. But after that happened. I think that was the start for me on how the love I feel & have for children. My 2 kids mean the world to me. Of course I do them also:)
