Need your help with VideoPhone

Hello everyone. I need your help if you know how to do. I have two router for my friend and my own and I have d-link for support two router.

I have five of them: Modem, D-link, two routers, Linksys.

My friend's VP is working and my Vp is work but for short become froze when I chat with my other friend. He told me he can see me look fine move and I see the friend is froze. I found out that D-link tell one light is orange. like this pictures. I did called VRS help me all plugs on and still not working only one of my VP. I need Videophone so bad. I am tired of sick wait too long.

You see my router next modem. My friend's router is under down of shelf. there no picture. You can see my router's red wire to D-link that where light orange.

My first question to you is, why in the world do you have so many routers? It's not good to piggy back so many router's like that. Why SR-200 and (what looks like) an EBR-2310?

I really think you need to "clean up" your network dude. Use one router. Then if you need more ports, get an 8 port switch to put behind the router.
 
Ok, i'm wrong, that's not an EBR-2310. That's a DES-1105 switch. Here is the best thing that you can do...

Modem > SR-200 > Linksys

Then go into the Linksys and disable DHCP. That will turn your Linksys into a switch that also has wireless abilities. Then you should no longer need the DES-1105.
 
Orange lights is 10MPS rated, while green lights is 100MBPS.

Assuming that you got two VP, right?
 
I know there too much of them lol. It was not me. VRS did give me D-link for reason of two routers need diffirent two ip address. You know that make me and my friend crazy lol

Why 4 Ethernets plugged in switch when you only have two public IP addresses? In other word, why extra one Ethernet plugged in your switch.

For every additional port you get, you need to add the number of Ethernet on top of WAN plus primary IP address. For example, if you get three IP addresses, then there will be total of 4 Ethernets connecting to switch.

If I were you, I will unplug the Ethernet that is connect to Linksys from the switch then plug in SR-200 available port. Then I would powercycle everything.

I was former Sorenson installer. i need to know about internet provider. what is name company of internet provider? Did you pay extra charge for second public ip address?
 
aha! where is the blue cable going to from thw wan port? those wan port is for hooking up to dsl or cable modem or a switch box
 
ok if you have 2 public ips ok hook up modem to a switchbox and hook up 2 ports to both wan ports of both routers and hook up your devices to ports on either routers and when powercycle the modem will give seprate ip address to each router
 
I notice your post said you have 2 public ip but in your photo you have 3 routers plugged into the Dlink Switch.

With 2 public ip you should have only have cable modem and 2 routers plugged into the Dlink Switch.



The 3rd router should have it DCHP disabled and plugged into one of the other router lan port not into the Dlink switch.

I think everything will clear up if it simply set up from modem>dlink wifi router>network switch...then call it a day. I am not sure if one router will support 2 VP 200s. hmmm

I have a Dlink 625 wifi router plugged to the cable modem and I have a old linksys switch in my bedroom to my VP and my computer, it works great. It's plugged to a long ethernet cable from living room to my bedroom.

He posted that he have 2 public IP so he have to use a switch after a modem

Modem -> Dlink Switch -> each ip for each routers (2 public ip = 2 routers plugged in switch)

His photo show 3 routers plugged into switch so one router is incorrect.


So switch need to be after the modem if you have more than 1 public ip.

I have question about two public IP address. Should charge extra public ip address.
 
aha! it looks like you plugged in red cable to both wan ports that is wrong setup the wan ports are for connecting to modem ok to properly connect wan port always connect it to modem or to non wan port(ethernet of another device in daisy chain

His 2 routers are correctly set up for switches to router WAN port. Remember he posted he have 2 public ips.

3rd router need to be taken off the switch and plugged into another lan port of the router or he need to get a 3rd public ip address for 3rd router.

Yes!

I currently use a switch along with two routers and two IPs by the way.

If anybody adds a third router, it's recommended to do what he explained above. It usually works better esp vp that way.

If anybody plan to set up a switch and two routers, make sure that both routers are from different companies aka D-Link or Linksys for a sample. Do not use both same router brands cuz it usually causes some conflicts which I then learned. So I use Linksys and D-Link that works along seamlessly.
 
in case you noticed in the photo of those sorenson router and dlink router ? see the red cable plugged in to both wan ports? u know both sorenson and dlink are the same ports setup wan ports are usually next to power plug and that's a no no for wan to wan hook up it should be wan to either ports marked 1,2,3 and 4 and linksys router with dhcp disabled should be plugged into sorenson port 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 and not wan port i already know my setup with linksys wireless point before by disabling dchp server on linksys router allows either routers to give ip address to it and the white cable from modem is nowhere hooked up to wan port? i wonder? it should be hooked up to wan port of sorenson or dlink router and in the wan setup is clone mac address for cable modem but if dsl its user name and password of your dsl provider usually same as your email address and password from your dsl provider

It not a Dlink router

It a Dlink Switch and Dlink Switch do not have WAN ports.

Look at picture you will see logo label "switch"
