Hi...I am new on this forum!

I am frustrated because I was using a Netgear WGT624 router which was working with the VP200 and the Ojo, plus 2 desktop computers and one wireless laptop. But the router was giving us problems...it kept dropping its signal a few times a day and we had to keep rebooting it...a real pain! Also, the speed was very slow. We have Comcast cable which is supposed to be fast...and we use a Motorola Surfboard SB5101 modem (which is working fine).

I bought a Netgear Wireless-N (WNR2000) router today. Made a big difference in speed on laptop and desktops. Problem is, VP and Ojo not working properly...they don't seem to allow me to call out. I was in chat with SnapVRS for a long time, and a nice guy took over my desktop computer to change settings on the router for both the vp and the Ojo, and had me change settings on both of them. Then he called me on Ojo...it worked. Then he called on VP... it worked. But later I tried to call out and I couldn't...it's not working for calling out, and I'm not sure that anyone can call in!!

I'm wondering if it's something to do with the "encryption." On the old router, it allowed WEP security (which I had set up), but Netgear says that WEP is old technology and too easy to "hack" so this router and my laptop Vista uses WPA and something called TKIP... so I had to set the encryption for that. I have a feeling that might be what is stopping the Ojo and vp from working right...I'm not sure, and I can't test it myself. i don't know if anyone else has tried to call me...I can't even ask anyone to call me because I use the Ojo or vp to make the calls!! :(:(

Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem? I think I've tried everything, including unplug, replug, reboot everything...over and over again.

Thank you!! Sarah

Hi Sarah and welcome aboard!

For your router issues, I'm sure somebody who know this and help you out soon enough. Hope yours work out somehow.

I do have the Comcast Motorola surfboard too, but it's a SB5120 modem. I learned recently that there is newer and faster modem to be released real soon... it's SB6120 modem.

We do have OJO and VP200. I do not remember how I did solve problem in 2 years ago. I have little problem that I can't to make to Sorenson VRS from my OJO. OJO is good for SnapVRS.

Did you turn off on firewall?

Was your VP200 first? How long ago, you got OJO?
My suggest to call OJO's customer service or Tech Support. Tell them that you can't solve problem. They will send tech person to your place.

I just went into Netgear router settings and unchecked "UnPnP" and then I restarted the VP. I was able to call vp test number and got through! Then I called SnapVrS 711, and got through to an interpreter. We started to chat but it froze up. So I'm making progress! :D

Sarah, your issues sound an awful like what I posted about 9 months ago. My roommate had the VP200 and we kept getting a dropped connection or not at all. After numerous efforts at different things, we still couldn't make it work. We had to keep the VP disconnected when it wasn't being used, and then connected it when it did need to get used (but then the rest of us lost our wireless connection during that time.) It was really frustrating. Anyway, my roommate that has the VP, I ended up getting him the newest d-link router - it combined BOTH the sorenson router AND the wireless router into one piece of hardware - problem solved! He uses the VP anytime he wishes, and none of us lose our wireless connection.

Interesting - I have a wireless Cisco Linksys router, and it is muy excelente (Spanish for "very excellent"). I haven't had any disconnects when using *my* VP also. :D

Hi AlleyCat...thanks for the reply! Sounds like you had 2 routers before and then changed to using only one wireless router? We used one wireless router before (Netgear wireless router), and now I have a new wireless router (Netgear "N" range). I never had a router from Sorenson because I had my own, which was better. Most of the time when a device is plugged into a router and it doesn't function properly, it means that something needs to be changed in the device's or the router's settings, or sometimes both. I had to uncheck "UnPnP" in the router settings on the computer for Ojo and vp to work on the other Netgear router, and it seems I had to do the same to the new one. Now I just have to wait until someone tries to call me (who is not from Sorenson/SnapVRS) so I can test it!! :P

Hi darkage...to answer your questions...no...I didn't turn off the firewall. That is never a good idea! That is for security and protection for our computers!! Anyway, I got the vp recently but had the Ojo for about a year. I'll see if Ojo and vp are working later today. I will hopefully get a call to try it out. If they still aren't working properly, I will use your advice and see if a tech can come out to the house... thanks! :P

Just turn off firewall on OJO at 192.168.X.X
I would not turn firewall off on Internet.
Last night, I was going to check my 192.168.0.1 but forget my password. Not feel like to do reset on my router/modem.

Best way to call OJO tech support from your VP200.

How do I do that? I didn't see any options for that in my router's settings. I'm still not seeing any video...except when I called tech support from Ojo, and for the second time, I saw the person, we started to chat, and then it froze up. I don't think tech support knows what else to do. Two people have tried. :( Sad day...

You need set up port forward.

Port Forwarding for the Netgear WNR2000
This is for OJO

After you done with OJO then test it and let me to know if work.

I still can't get it to work, but thank you anyway. I give up. Either I have to get a different router, or not use Ojo again. I've been trying to get this to work for a few days now and I'm exhausted!! :(

Router and Ojo need reboot after you changed. Make sure you put same IP address for OJO and router's DMZ. Also use static IP, not DHCP for Ojo.

I gave up and bought a D-Link DIR628 router instead. Tried rebooting ojo and vp numerous times with the Netgear. Ojo was set to Static IP. The techs did everything they could and so did I. It was time to quit!!

I don't know the right configurations for the D-Link. I will ask in a separate thread.

cant someone who knows well about port forwarding, fix her problem remotely?

Thanks for the thought, JClarke...but I did it on my own! First, I happily boxed up the new, useless Netgear N router (to return to the store) and I hooked up the D-Link DIR628... Still didn't work....nothing was connecting. So, after web research, I figured out that I had to change the IP addresses in Ojo and Vp200 by one number each to match the new router. Thanks to someone who had posted the access code for the VP, I was able to edit the IP address and DNS settings!!! :ty: It then worked better but still not right. Then I realized that I needed to log into the router to open the ports for both Ojo and the VP. It was tricky to figure out how to do that on D-Link, because I've only used Netgear routers! Anyway, of course I would reboot router, Ojo and VP each time I made a change. After opening the ports, it was almost working right, so I went in and made one more change and rebooted again...and then....VOILA!! Everything began working as it should!!! I am proud and happy!! :dance2: What a relief! Thanks to all who tried to help!

Anyway, never mind about the remote assistance. Glad you have fugired it out :)
