I found this website awhile ago called "Ben Boisot - My Life is a Gift", about a deaf-blind boy with learning disability... I thought it was very inspiring to see all the things he has done with his loving family and friends.

There is also a video of pictures of all the things he has done HERE, quite amazing to see.

WOW!! That was so amazing story about Ben Boisot. Being Blind & Deaf, that has got to be so hard on him through out his life. But he keeps on going everyday in is life & having a loving & caring family & friends to help is just priceless. Those are the 2 most important senses he don't have & makes the best of it everyday. How he can do it is beyond me. But very very impressive I think. :thumb:

I know many blind-deaf are not born both blind AND deaf... but are there any that are? and if so... do you know how they even BEGIN to learn? I could imagine that if you couldn't see OR hear and you were an infant with no understanding of any language that it would be impossible to ever learn to UNDERSTAND or COMPREHEND anything at all!

Yes, I do know of a Deaf-Blind girl that was born that way at my elementary school. She was in a special-need program-- she wasn't able to communicate much. I never really feel that she was PART of a class (sometime Deaf and Special-Need are put together due to lack of space or too few students to own a big classroom) because the aide didn't fingerspell everything what the Teacher said (mostly because the aide was a hearie-- probably couldn"t understand everything the teacher signed)
But then now I realized-- I am not sure if she is mentally-challenged or not. She does know some signs like yes, no, bathroom, please, etc. She does "read" fingerspelling with her hands, but I am not sure if she does understand everything or few words that she already knows.
Last time I saw her was in a high school (in a special classroom) and she looked the same.
