My kid wants a tattoo for Christmas.....

and when they get wrinkly... it's horrible sight...

darn tootin'!...I've got a good friend in her late 60's, who has them all over her arms....Men seem to be able to carry it off much better than women (being old with tattoos)....

Getting a tattoo removed via laser is a lot more money and pain that getting the tattoo put on.

Just sayin'.

I have a child who wants to get a tattoo, I will tell him or her to wait until he or she become 18 plus paying for the tattoo.

My brother got his first tattoo at age of 16 in 1981. Yes, Back to the 1980s, where no one asked for IDs, easily getting alcoholic beverages or cigarettes, etc...it was a real easy then.

Well, I first saw my brother's tattoo when I was 10 years old, I knew I wanted one, but I did not know what I liked until I finally got my first tattoo when I was 38 years. I was glad I have waited so long for that tattoo! :eek3:

I think you did good, Rockin'. I have 2 tats, got my first about age 23, second about age 25 or so. I wasn't even thinking of them at 16. The first was a very typical heart-and-rose type tattoo, and the second was a black panther. It's now nearly 20 years later, and I don't regret either. As a girl, I'll always love hearts and roses, and I have an extreme fondness for black cats (whether cute little cuddly domestic ones or big panthers), so I still love both. I'm just glad I was an adult, and not just 18, to decide on getting those.

My mom got me my first one when I was 16... now almost 10 years later she regrets it, I'm covered :) Don't do it! Make him wait till he is 18. I also have worked in tattoo shops for 5years he is to young to pick something that will be on him for life

my 2 sisters got tattoos when they were 16 & 18. My eldest sister regrets her's cause the stupid tattoo artist told her that she didn't need it touched up. Not surprising now that she's 43 it's faded and the lines have blurred. Ya can't tell that it's a 3" butterfly. My second sister has gotten her butterfly tattoo increased in size by adding ribbons & hearts. She wants to get more but feels that being a mother of 2 young kids, she shouldn't get them right now.
I on the other hand do not have any tattoos but I am the only only with a body piercing (bellybutton). My second sister wants me to complete the tradition and get a butterfly, but I cannot see that on my skin. I want to get a phoenix tattoo drawn by my favorite artist Kaja Folio, just the bird not the lady LOL.

If I were to get a tattoo, I would probably have my DD's name tattooed on my back that way it can be easily covered.

A reputable tattoo shop will refuse to allow you to put the name of your bf/gf or spouse on your body. That shows these people are doing it for the love of art and not just out to make a buck. Those that tell you they will do it and if you break up and decide to have the name covered they will tell you just come back, those are the ones that you need to steer clear of. They probably won't do that good of a job anyway so you'll be going back frequently for corrections, cover ups, and touch ups.

Regarding names and reputable shops, you know this how?
