I can't wear one in my right ear anymore , it's too painful . That ear is messed up from a car accident. If I hold down on the ear mold on my left ear it'll work for a second . I think there is moisture in the tube but I can't remove the hook from my HA , it has be taken off with a tool that I do not have. I did put my HA in it dehumidifier over night and that helped for about 20 minutes. If I pull the tubing off the hook can it be put back on ? I never tried this before as I was able to unscrew the hook and put it on my second HA. Damn why do HA have to stop working on a weekend , it stopped working yesterday. I had replace the battery already . It's so frustrating not being able use my right ear anymore.

What hearing aid do you have?

A picture would properly help better.

If its a standard BTE hearing aid with an earmold and tube, them you'll be able to pull the tube off the earhook and then put it back on.

I pull mine off every night to wash my earmold and dry the hearing aid out better then when it is still attached.

It looks like this, I do not have a camera . I wanted purple HA but I was not told they would be kids friendly , if I had know that I never would had gotten a Oticon chili kids friendly HA

I used my hair drying on the tubing and that soften it up and made is easier to pull the tubing off the hook . I can't wait to get new HA , I really do not like push button HA. I keep
forgetting to push the button when I making a phone call. I will try dry it our for a few hours as I have no HA to wear . I really need to see what can be done for my right ear.

Thank you for responding . :ty:

There is no need to take your earhook off tho, just the tubing.

Have you dried the inside of tubing out? Has it made any different?

I take the tubing and earmold off the earhook every night because then your HA drier then can dry the earhook better then if the tubing and earmold was still on there.

Btw, I really want to try your hearing aid out, been told they are more natural sounding then the Phonak I wear. What HA are you going to get next?

Oh all Oticon hearing aids need a tool to take the earhook off, it's not because it's child friendly. My friend has the Oticon Chili and she had to go back to her audiologist to sort out her earhook when she snapped it as it had the pin.

I use one of these to blow the moisture out of the tubing. Might be worth getting one if you haven't got one. They don't cost much but are worth every $.

Been without mine for about a year now, cant hear anything unless youre yelling ( my son thinks mom and I are arguing and tells us to stop but mom explains she has to for me to hear ) then again, we start brushing up on ASL... sometimes we just try to take the fast way on the conversation but alot of mis-understanding on my end being I dont hear everything.

It's called Murphy's Law. Last year around Christmas I took off the day before and after Christmas as well the Monday to give myself a mini vacation - the only vacation I've ever had in my entire Federal career, if you don't include time off for surgery. Naturally my left hearing aid got wax into the aid the night before which I could not remove safely and had to let the audi clean out. I was out of a hearing aid for three weeks since they were off Christmas and New Years week and I had to wait for the second Saturday of the month when they were open to have it taken care of - in minutes. If anything can go wrong, it usually does. It's no fun, I agree. Fragile little PIAs aren't they?

My HA is kids friendly ,it said the right on the booklet . That stink that they all need a tool to take the hook off. I am not sure what kind I 'll get the next time but I know I do not want the same model I have now.
I have trouble getting the tubing back into the ear mold so I only take it off the hook. I just it back in HA drying and leave it there the rest of the day and hope it work in the morning , if it doesn't I will have to bring it in to be fixed. I really never had a lot trouble with moisture in my HA ,. How does your tubing hold up when keep pulling it out every night?
When a HA stopping working I would unscrewed the hook and put the hook one my second HA and bring the broken one in to be fixed. I can only wear one a HA in my left ear and I not being able to unscrew the hook on my HA mean I have wear one in ear that messed up. I need HA that have a hook the screw off encase my HA break down at bad time like this time.

Yes they're Fragile little PIAs . This why I hate not being able to remove the hooks on my own. I got 2 HA so I would a backup if my HA decided to be
a Fragile little PIAs . I told the audi this and he not tell I could not take the hooks off when he put the order in for me. I am going to try and find a new audi . Yeah Murphy's Law strike again.

Yes your hook is child friendly but that is a feature for most Oticon hearing aids. If you had chosen the 'adult' Oticon Chili, you would still need the 'tool' to get the hook off.

My tubing is fine with being pulled off every night. No issue with it what so ever :)

I understand this now, but you don't seem to understand why I hate this on my HA . I wish my audi told this b/c I told him I was planning to use one HA as a backup when one broke down. This HA is unless to me b/c I can't take the hook off on my own.

Born hearing with severe ear infections since birth, gradually loss my hearing over the years and now legally deaf without aids. Past couple years have gotten worst. I can barely hear if you yell into my ear, recently started learning ASL.

Wow! I was born with profound deaf and received a bilateral hearing aids at age two. I can't hear anything with hearing aids. My profound deaf is 120db in both ears. Now I has a CI & HA.

I got my first HAs insecond grade, early 70's... they didnt help, picked up too much background noise, and with the bullying I quit wearing them within a few years of that. I didnt get hearing aids again until 2004, world of difference, but they really dont help me as they are maxed out... and due to the fact they are really pushing the power out of them they tend to fail in a short amount of time...but also found out this model was discontinued and a new model replaced it. So, wasnt so top of the line that my Audi has stated to me.

maybe let the earhook dry? that's what I did after the moisture issue so I laid it down on my hearing aid case, close the case up and even before you go to bed, check to make sure it's good before the next day!!! (that's what I did with mine and even the earhook seems tricky but good idea to have a backup hearing aid in handy though!)

Is it a programing issue that keeps you from just sticking the tube and ear mold on the other hearing aid you have on hand? Even if not exactly right it seems it would be likely to help in the mean time.

I do not have to tool to take the earhook off, it does not just pop off or screw off. This my problem with my HA , and why I do not like. I have a back up hearing aid. But I can only wear a HA in one ear.

It did not work , I just tired it. I hope it not my ear that getting worst.

do you have anything that could help dry the hearing aid? the air blower like Naida posted, unwaxed dental floss to thread through the tube and hook to soak up the moisture, dry aid kit (canister with drying crystals in a small package), dry & store? maybe try a bag of dried rice and stick the hearing aid in it to dry it out?

I don't know anything about the Oticon hearing aids and how they are set up. I can unscrew the hook from my Phonak hearing aid, but since you need a tool to remove yours.. hmm

Oticon has a cute lil mutitool easy for taking out batteries and the ending for unscrewing the earhooks just an FYI.
