What exactly is the supporter supposed to do for you? I gather this is not an interpreter, but some other type of support?
Is your school year almost over now?
I did ask my British husband about the phrase; he said he remembers it as "grassing ON" someone, always in the sense of being a back-stabbing informer. As in "Harry grassed on me to the teacher."
But that was a LONG time ago for him; sounds like usage has changed a bit now.
