My daughter, Emma is 10 years old. She is just l like her dad; very soft-hearted, soft-spoken and trusting of everyone. She is a precious child. I went to her middle school yesterday (Halloween) to attend a campus event with her. The secretary/receptionist at the school informed me that I can wait with Emma in her classroom until the event starts. I go to her room and find her rather lethargic. I knelt next to her to ask her what's wrong. She turned and looked at me and that's when I saw the marks. She had a tiny cut on her left cheek and a bruise on her left eyelid. Knowing Emma, I was confused and concerned about these marks. So I asked her what happened. She said she fell. I could tell that wasn't true. So I took her outside in the hallway and asked her again, and that's when she admitted that her mother (my ex-wife) hit her. I went and took the older sister, my oldest child, and asked her what happened to her sister's face. She confirmed that her mother hit her. At this time, I was livid. I was going nuts. I took Emma to the office and immediately called the local Police Department and the local Sheriff's Office. The school also called the Super of Child Welfare. After both me and Emma filed a report with the deputy (he also took pictures), I immediately left and went to Child Protective Services and filed a complaint. They told me they will investigate... for the third time.

I'm still waiting to hear how the investigations turn out, and I'll keep all my friends here at AD updated.

God, I hope she is okay and not too tramuatic about it. Good luck about getting bottom of it.

Oh, David, I am so sorry to hear this. You are obviously doing everything that you can to protect Emma. Give her lots of hugs and understanding. This will be a confusing time for her. Even when a parent hurts a child in this way, the child still feels a sense of loyalty to the abusing parent. It will be difficult for her to reconcile her feelings. Please just be patient and give her lots of love and support.

Again, I am very, very sorry to hear this has happened to your family. And here's another one for Emma and her sister.

I wish you the best, David! Nail her for this. I hope you can get her visitation revoked or at least supervised visits.

NO child should have to suffer like that!

Sorry to hear about this, Dave. I hope this ends with you having sole custody of your children.

I'm sorry about what happened to Emma. You did the right thing calling the police. Thats really uncalled for to hit a child :( Do what you gotta do to be a father to her. She's gonna need it.

 Hope your girls will live with you someday sooner!!! :(

WTF! :mad2: YOU gotta take a full custody of your kids!

I 'm sorry to hear about what happened to your child. Your children need to be living with you, I hope.

I am sorry to hear about this too! :( I hope everything works out in your favor and you are able to take Emma and her older sister away from their mom. You sound like a terrific Dad !!

It is sad! My heart goes out to you and your daughters

Hopefully child protection services takes care of this. If. Not have your daughters file an injunction against their mom. It is not easy but if this happened for the third time that CPS had to be called. It is time for both of the girls to have protection orders from their mom.

Ugh, this makes my blood boil when a parent abuse a child.

David- I'm so sorry this had to happened to your little girl, no child deserves this.

I'm wondering why hasn't the CPS remove your daughter from the mother's home if this happened for the third time?

David, I'm sorry about what has happened to your daughter. From now on, I hope your girls will never go back to their mother. At this time, please give your girls a plenty of huggss and support which they will need from you as a caring father.

Poor girl. I hope you'll have custody of them very soon!
Hang in there.

Hope you'll be back with good news.

At 10 years old, your daughter is old enough to give compelling evidence of her mistreatment.

I hope all will be well for her!

Despite the stories you hear, its not easy for CPS to remove a child from a parent. CPS needs ironclad proof of severe mistreatment AND a judge's approval before they can remove a child.
