My CI turn on date is...

Congrats on your CI! Hope all goes well with it! You may be introduced to all sorts of noises in the world, but never forget to listen to the natural silence. Good luck.

why take it long wait?

why long wait? it is due to the fact have to let the surgery area behind ear heal as it is swollen right now? by the 6th weeks it should not be swollen and less. Finally the audiologist can put the ci on.

In my son's father's case when he came in for his. He had ci implanted last April 18th. The smaller one couldnt stay on as it fell down cuz it is swollen. So they used big one for a while. Till the day in july I came to the clinic for my dr appt. They finally put the smaller one on him. Now he can change colors on his ci which he was very happy to do so. So you see how long it take for the area to heal. In every individuals all are different on healing and some are slowly healing. but most of people have their ci put on by 6th weeks. That is the reason why. :)

Wow it's really kewl.. even tho you are oral.. do you sign now?

Hi Felix -- I grew up oral but picked up ASL when I was about 13 or 14 after a good friend went to the state school for the deaf and met the Deaf -- my friend had to "interpret" for me and I thought that was dumb -- one deaf interpreting for two other deaf! I am fluent in ASL because my first husband's family were primarily deaf and my present husband is an ASLer too!
