Yes it is a very personal issue for people that has this problem. That's why I asked not to mention themselves or anyone else directly (unless they want to). I'm just asking for peoples opinions & thoughts about it, like anyone else who makes a thread of "curiosity". I know & understand more then anybody when it comes to MPD thank you very much.

I had planned on giving more information about it, (but something came up, just after I submitted this thread). Looks like Royal Majesty beat me to it:ty::)

But the thing is just because people suffer from MPD. Doesn't mean they can't better themselves rather they get help or not. Because also, (which I was going to add later) allot of people I've met has made their life better & can do things that other people think they can't do.

No I don't think its funny, who's laughing? I'm sure not. Sorry about your mom though. Yes it's very hard for many people to accept. It's not something anyone should ever have to deal with in their life. But I will keep your mom in my thoughts & prayers:angel:

I would not vote. It is not funny. I have seen someone had one. And my mother had Bioplar Disorder Depression. Sometime she is crazy and sometime she is not. Sometime she is out of control. I have been through it alot. She did commit suscide herself 3 times! At first she did with gun, but my dad took it away and 2 she did take overdose pills. Boy I though she was crazy. I saw it in hospital, when she went to hospital and the nurse, doctor save her life. They pump it out all the pills. Sometime she is moody and sometime she is great. She is always up and down everyday. She take her medication for her depression. She is my mom and it is hard for me to accept it.

Yes I do take this illness seriously

& No it should not be taken lightly, although some people do *sigh*

MPD is a very tragic disorder. It's not something that should be taken lightly.

*Looks In My Own Mirror*
Nope not perfect, never said I was & never will be:)

Its not really labeling somone. If you really think about it.
"That person has MPD"
"That person has a flu"

Both different types of illnesses.

Your right no such thing as a perfect body, mind, & soul.
That's only God himself.

"Multiple Personalities" is no longer used at this time. Time have changed! Many confuse between the MP or Schizophrenia diagnosis. Dissociative disorder is now being used. JLFWildcat, Are you a mental health expert or professional?

No Multiple Personalities Disorder & Schizophrenia are 2 separate illnesses
Here is more information to show the difference between the 2...

Multiple Personality Disorder - Information for Families
by Vicki Koenig, PhD. and Jonathan Kessler, M.A., M.F.C.C.

Multiple Personality Disorder (also known as Dissociative Identity Disorder) is a severe mental illness characterized by the presence of two or more separate identities that control the individual's actions and behavior. This is accompanied by an inability to remember important personal information that is beyond the scope of ordinary forgetfulness. Typically, while in one "identity" the person will not have recall or consciousness of actions that were taken while in another "identity". These identities may have very different aspects, mannerisms, likes and dislikes, etc, and may go by different names. For some general thoughts on dealing with a loved one's diagnosis of a mental illness such as Multiple Personality Disorder.

Although the term "Schizophrenia" is commonly used by lay people to refer to multiple personality disorder, this is in fact completely wrong and inaccurate. Schizophrenia is a separate mental illness, characterized by delusions and/or hallucinations, but without any features of a separate personality.

In addition to the obvious feature of distinct and separate personalities, this disorder is characterized by amnesia, as one identity may have no awareness of the actions of another identity. Significant portions of childhood may also be forgotten. Suicidal or aggressive tendancies may be present in one or more identities. More than 2 identities may be present, but in over half of all reported cases feature 10 or fewer identities. Treatment may include inpatient or outpatient therapy, and may feature medication, "talk therapy", and other therapeutic interventions.

BTW, in answer to both y'all's question about me. No I don't have a professional career in any type of Mental Health Expertise. I've had many years of studies starting back in high school & I actually thought of making a career out of it. But I got to emotionally involved back then. Although the more I've done it since then. I've seen the difference in people after what I've done. But already made another career choice since then.

When I've said I've worked with so many different people on things likes MPD & other illnesses. I did it like a volunteer. Being more then just a friend & helping with the many different types of problems people seem to have. Even if I hardly knew them. I felt like its my job to help the best way I could.

Do you mean that you are a psychologist or psychiatrist or a professional counsellor?

JLFWildcat, Are you a mental health expert or professional?

I am curious about everyone here if they have or ever met someone with Multiple Personalities?? Do understand you don't have to mention yourself nor anyone else directly OK?

I myself have worked with so many people with Multiple Personalities. Men, Women, Children, Teens, etc...On & Offline. It amazes me on their backgrounds & what has lead up to their feelings & thoughts.

Some has killed their own emotions because of certain things. Some are driven to insanity. Then some of course end up suicidal & actually do it I've took a few years in Psychology & probably should have made a career out of it. But I get to emotionally involved. But enjoy helping people out:)

So if y'all will, take a moment of your time & vote & tell me your thoughts about people with Multiple Personalities. Please no mention of names everyone should be treated as confidential.

I'm curious ask you question. Do you work for mental institution or psychology like counselor? :dunno:

Interesting thread here.

I vote I know someone who suffer Multiple Personalities. My 21 years old nephew have it. He suffer few form of disorder due abuse/neglect in the past.

He is very obsessed to cleanness. It take over one hour to use shower to clean himself and good person... Very neat image... Clean clothes... very smart... We have lovely conversation.... Unfortunlately he use different personalities... He is really volience/aggressive guy... Beat people up for money... get offend easily if girl reject him. He hit her face with fist one week before death of his mother. He hate his mother and blame her for what she made him like this... We talked... My Dad & brother are surprised that he show his respect on us which normally he never do that... We made deep conversation... I suggest him to keep his mother in good memory... Sometimes I'm scary about him but I hope he see positive...

I contact with my niece, (his sister) via email... As I know that he is fine.

Anyway, did you know that Ted Bundy has it, too? Most serial killers have it...

I don't know anyone who has it, except I know one famous person who had a 16 separated personalities. Her name was Sybil Isabel Dorsett ( not her real name ).

EH... Some of you are sensitive to this question. He didn't ask you to NAME the person or EXPLAIN the experience. He simply asked you if U do know anyone or not. Beside if U don't like the question .. WALK AWAY! :ty:
