There may be some truth to the saying that all women will eventually turn into their mothers, with a U.S. study finding daughters age and wrinkle like their mothers.

Plastic surgeons used facial imaging and 3D computer modeling to study the aging process and found that daughters' faces tend to follow their mothers in terms of sagging and volume loss, particularly around the corners of their eyes and lower eyelids.

"Studies of facial aging up to the present have largely been observational and subjective," the team from Loma Linda University Medical Center in California said in a report published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

"This study applies state-of-the-art facial imaging and three-dimensional computer modeling to measure changes in the aging female face."

The study, presented at an ASPS conference in Seattle at the weekend, was based on examining 10 sets of similar looking mother-daughter pairs aged from 15 to 90 to measure changes in the aging female face.

Mothers and daughter have the same skeletal and cellular make up.

Researchers Matthew Camp, Zachary Filip, Wendy Wong and Subhas Gupta, all plastic surgeons in California, found that volume loss in the lower eyelid began when women were aged in their mid-30s and continued to progress steadily through life.

They said these findings may act as a further guideline for cosmetic rejuvenation of the eye region.

Eyelid surgery is one of the most common cosmetic procedures, used to get rid of crows' feet around the eyes and sagging to make the face appear younger.

ASPA figures show that it was the fourth most popular cosmetic surgical procedure in the United States in 2008.

Awww, I was hoping for pictures of that stuff....blah.

I take after my dad's side of the family. I have more wrinkles now than my mom did when she died. I had too much sun exposure.

I look just like my dad although, I have some features of my mother.

So that means that my throat will get all wrinkely like my mother's throat? she doesn't have a lot of wrinkles thank goodness.

I remember looking thru some old photos when I came across a picture of the 1955 high school reunion and there was a woman who looked a lot like my mother in it. It dawned on me that I was looking at my Grandmother Price - not my mother. For one thing, sign said class of 1920ish (don't remmeber the exact date).

I don't think this would apply to a lot of women. Much would depend upon lifestyle, diet, and other factors. If a woman lives pretty much the same (basic) life as her mother, then it's possible.

There was a funny ad (banned) somewhere on youtube I remember where a guy who had a HOT girlfriend was talking with his buddy... his buddy told him "if you want to know what she will look like 20 years from now look at her mother"... the guy then was going to meet his gf's mom... the doorbell rings and he pauses and looks out the peephole and sees a very attractive older woman with her daughter (his gf) ... he smiles and opens the door and the woman's ass is so BIG that she has to walk in sideways to get through the door... pretty funny.

Yet another reason to transition to male...

Oh, you mean physically.

Strange, I haven't noticed that much of a resemblance, but I'll tell you this: Most women DO act like their mothers!

my daughter went to high school with a boy that looked just like his mother! If the boy wore a wig like his mom hair do, they could had been twin!

I favor my deceased Mom very much, even my 6 siblings tell me that all the time. Strong face and her physical features also. She was a very strong woman and firm. All 6 of us were well-behaved, even tho' she worked 2 jobs. I miss her very much.

I'm told that I look a lot like my Grandmother Smith from my father's side. Just about everyone who knew my Grandmother Smith say that I look a lot like her. she died a year after I was born.

pretty funny.
Heh... I remember seeing that commercial years ago.

I do agree about the part about it depending on other factors. It can be anything.

I look like my mom's mostly. My nose, eyes shape, lips, skin and feet are same as my dad's. But my eyes color is same my grandpa. And plus same his height. I am taller than my mom's height. Also my feet is bigger than her. LoL!

I have posted old pics of myself whenever I was skinny on FB and most of the comments I get are how much I look like my mother. Whenever I am heavy, I dont look like her. It is weird.

You might be right. I must have inherit the gene from my mother for looking younger than one really is. My mother didn't look like her age until she retired. My sister smokes and has tan so she looks much older than our eldest sister. The eldest sister took up smoking in her 40's or so so she is looking older now. I had smoked for total of one or two years but it is not enough to make me look older. Since the move to AZ, I have been out in the sun as I love the warmer weather, I could get wrinkles. That is okay with me. Already got small wrinkles on the neck but not the face.

I was completely raised by my mother. Does that mean I might end up looking like her? :P

I wouldn't know if I ended up looking like my biological mother as I'm adopted. However most has commented that I look alot like my adopted mother.

Somewhere I have a picture of me, my mother and my maternal grandmother all together. Except for the gray hair, we are all identical.

I have taken pictures of my daughter, me, my mother and my maternal grandmother of each of us at the same age and except for clothing styles, we are identical.
