I didn't want to jump in the middle off the SSI vs job debate, but this irritated me.

I am on SSI and have been since I was 13. I also don't work. The thing is, I want to work, but my medical benefits that I receive are tied to the SSI. If I work, my SSI could be in jeopardy. If I lose SSI, I will lose my medical, and I CANNOT AFFORD that!

I can totally understand how people feel about this issue, because, there are a lot of people who abuse the system. A lot of people. TTT, I am sorry to say, you sound like one of those people. Get off your sorry butt, and DO something! Anything!!

And I was there for 4 months... and I hated it...
Tired of those girls from the ghetto jumping on me.

I worked at Kmart, as cashier, and I can't understand customers.

I did intern at BET (Black Entertainment Television) in Wash. DC...
I quit that one, cause I ain't happy with that. Too boring.

I tried to get job at GOODWILL, they said I am overqualified.
They won't give me jobs as maid or whatever. I cussed at that lady, cause
she won't hire me.

IRS, I was hired for 2 weeks, but I failed typing test. I quit before they fired me.

FED EX, they told me to go home, I typed to slow.

Post Office, I failed tests. I need to know the addresses, and know what
is the difference of the error or whatever.

I tried. But my mom's friend tried to hire me to work for him...
I refused because I know he felt sorry for me.
Then I changed my mind,,, and my mom said no...
cause she doesn't want me to screw up her friendship between her
and him.

I went to Mississippi Vocational Rehab... Brian mentioned...
I did sign up last year in February. I asked them to find me job,
and I gave them some job advertisements so they can check
them out. I got tired of them being so slow.
A counselor there told me to dress up nice and meet her
at the office on Tuesday. And I show up... and she stood me up.

I went to Senior Staffing.... and nope... no luck there.

So I filled out job application online.

I went to Tunica casinos, and tried to get jobs there...
but they won't let me work there.
I don't wanna work there anyway, sinful place and plus too much smoking there.

I TRIED, so I give up. So anyway, SSI ain't so bad.
I just at home, and going on vacation, using that money
on entertainment purpose.
I gave my mom none. I just let her go with me on vacation, I'll
spend money on her too.

You can't always have vocational rehabilitation do all the work for you. If you want a job, you gotta work for it.

Ah... a quitter? So far, all I see is you quitting one thing after another. No wonder why you can't ever get a job. I've worked over ten jobs and I don't even have a college degree. I'm not sitting here complaining about not having a job or no one wanting me. In fact, I'm working right now. It's not a super high-level job where I work on 1,000 computers and run a business... it's a simple job where I do things for others. I enjoy it. I get paid. That's all that matters.

Television and business administration? If that's the kind of degrees you have, then why are you bothering with getting a job where you just sit on your ass and type all day. And put down names and addresses. You have to do 500 pages in 8 hours.
If you can't do all pages in 8 hours then they will fired you.

It would be better if people have computers in their home... and they
can file taxes on computer internet... instead of somebody at IRS to do that for them.

This is all we hear from you. I am getting SSI, and even *I* am annoyed here. There's no reason why you can't put your degree to use, or if you can't, go back to school. Heck, that is an option for you! SSI makes it easier to take classes. They will pay for your tuition!

I too get tired of paying hire taxes to support people who do not feel like working. It ticks me off when I drive through our project neighborhoods where people on welfare are driving Lincoln Navigators and brand new Cadillac Escalades...

Anyhow, back on topic.....10K is a drop in the bucket for these folks and I think fines should have some sort of impact.

I don't, however, think that sports players are overpaid. Yeah, it can turn my stomach thinking about that much money...but they are paid that much for a reason. First, not everybody can be an NFL player or a great baseball pitcher. Yeah...its easy to watch a game and say 'I can do that'....but in reality, those jobs aren't easy.

Secondly, they get paid that much because we are paying for it. That money has to come from somewhere, and you forking money over to either watch a game, or money is made on advertising while you watch the game.

Just like movie stars...its difficult for me to fathom that big of a paycheck, but if we're paying to see them to star in the movie, then so be it.
