The one child policy in China does have exempt, especially Chinese families who are from rural area or small town are exempt from this law.

there are proper terms for census/population purpose - population and density. I'll get back to you on that tonite because last year I had a great opportunity to learn from esteemed professor who specializes in this subject. He has a very very specific definition & specific term for that specific purpose.

The other interesting fact that wasn't mentioned about this news link is that 40% of those babies that were born were born out of wedlock.......

I researched that we are far from being overpopulated....on the other note, India and China is denser than here in the US.

According to the latest estimates, NYC has a population of 8,274,527 and the the land size of 300 sq miles...which is about 27,581 persons per square mile. Seattle has a latest population estimate of 594,000 with a land size of 85 sq miles...which means 6,988 ppsm. It is crazy imagining how to cram that many people in one square miles. And, in addition...San Francisco has a population of 808,000 crammed in only 46 square miles of land...which means 17,565 ppsm. It's not even close to the density which NYC has. It's all the cheating with thousands of skyscrapers that drape the manhattan island. :P I wonder what is the most dense city in the world...hmmm.
 
I was hoping that we will have another baby-boomers by now, that way, I can rest assure that I will have decent retirement.

Social Security Funds aren't as good as it looks unless there is another baby-boomer.

yes. same answer. China. with all major cities (I just don't feel like naming its cities since it dominates top 10 list). but yes you're right - it's specifically Hong Kong... and then several other cities :)

no.... we're talking about population density, not population of urban areas. for example - from your list..

1. Tokyo: 4391 people per square KM
2. Jakarta: 8015 people per square KM
3. NYC: 1784 people per square KM
.........
 
im pretty sure its hong kong or sao paulo in south america. I need to find the population figures with sq miles figures. if anyone can find the figures that's fine. :)
 
That's sad to see more human take over wild animals.
More people cause ruin our rain forest, air pollution, water pollution, etc.

There are plenty of land in the USA. However, that would mean destroying resources, plowing down the forests destroying animals' homes, draining the lakes dry and everything. A lot of dramatic changes would be made to the environment and that's not a good thing.

From what they say, if we didn't live on oil or coal, Earth wouldn't be able to sustain a population of more than 500 million human beings.

That's why the population exploded in a big way in the 18th century when they hit the first billion. Today, we are nearing 7 billion.

How is that a good thing? There's nothing good about that.
