My husband is deaf, he bought the Digital ear piece he had problems with the ear piece from day one, the year warrant is up and we have to pay $180.00 to get the receiver fix.
I called the Corp. office and they said I had to pay this price.
Any suggestions to what can I do?

well i know it's more espensive, but i would of gone with a reputable hearing aid company instad like phonak, siemens, starkey, etc If the warranty is up for any ha tho ur gonna have to pay ..not really sure wat else you can do, maybe talk to an audi

Thank you, for your reply
I thought Miracle Ear was a great company :(
We can't afford another ear piece because we are still paying for this one now we have to pay $180.00 more. :(

My mom purchased aides from miricle ear in the 90's. She had to pay to get them fixed at least once a year. Finally gave up and got some frorm a different company. SOunds like they havn't changed much.

jojo, actually no. Miricle-Ear is basicly a ripoff. Miricle-Ear, Beltone etc aren't real audis..........they're hearing aid dispensors. If you go see a dealer, you won't get the same qaulity of care as you will from a REAL reputable audi.

FYI......

Miracle Ear is owned by Siemens

Beltone is owned by GN Resound

Most of the time you are fit by a hearing aid dispenser, not an audiologist.

Your husbands hearing aid is out of warranty, but when it gets fixed it should come back with a 6mo or 12mo warranty attached to it. Ask the dispenser which he is getting. What exactly is the problem with the aid? Is it dead?

If you have a medicare or medicaid will cover for hearing aids. Do you want to have an ITC or ITE?? ITC mean In the canal or In the ear. The miracle Ear is for hearing people. They have a hearing loss in mild. I never go to Miracle Ear because I am not hearing. I am deaf. I went to a special audie.

Miracle Ear = Miracle Whip

Beltone = BellyUp

The ole days of nicknaming those two overpriced hearing aid companies.. sigh

SteveAUD. interesting when did Semiens buy out Miracle Whip ? and RNsound buy out BellyUp ?

Miracle ear is owned by American Hearing Technologies. They are the low guys on the quality list. You cna find one in many Sears stores. My Miracle Ear has been in and out of the shop numerous times in the 4 years I had it. I've had my Phonaks for the same amount of time and they are still going strong-no shop time.

Siemens and Resound are businesses, Miracle ear and Beltone are simply the "retail" chain extension of their companies. Surprisingly though, my outside Siemens sales rep could not get me the software for miracle ear, he himself who works for the company who owns them doesn't have access to it.

The quality between the mircle ear and Siemens is different. I've had Siemens aides and not have many problems with them, my mom had mircle ear and had nothing but problems on an at least yearly basis.

I havn't been into my dispenser since the place was sold have any of your heard much about Audible? Just wondering since that's the company that my dispenser sold his business to and advertisments make it sound like it has it's own line of HAs? not sure about that tho since as I said I have not been in there.

a person with a mild/moderate and even just entering the severe range can get good results from ITE's and ITC's. If one is comfortable with them so be it. It is actually nice not to have to worry about wearing glasses and aides from what I've heard. What you like may not be what I like. My 23 yo daughter still wears her digital ITE (could not get ITE's because of small ear canal) A person who has a good size ear canal can get great results from a smaller device. I have a smaller canal and ear structure but did get good results for quite some time, once the hearing dropped into the severe range they ITE's became less helpful and BTE was needed.

Quality I can't speak of, but the technology is shared between the two.

Audibel is a sister company of Starkey.

Miracle-Ear is NOT owned by Siemens!

Miracle-Ear is owned by an Italian based company named Amplifon. They focus on the retail operations of Miracle-Ear, Sonus and Amplifon Hearing Aid Centers.

Amplifon, in cooperation with Siemens, runs MEMSI (Miracle-Ear Manufacturing Services Inc.) The manufacturaing facility is located next to Amplifon's American corporate offices in Plymouth MN.

The hearing aids produced are, basicly, the same as Siemens but with some slight proprietary programming differences. Miracle-Ear usually has access to the new technology introduced by Siemens within a 3-6 month window.

Just an FYI

Many consumers are complaining about Miracle Ear and Beltone. You can check with your local BBB or the attorney general in your state to find out how many complaints are filed in your area.

I highly recommend going to a qualified audiologist. These stores do not have them. When you have HAs, you'll have a close working relationship with your audi and it's important to have some one you can trust and offers good service. My audi fixes my HA on the spot if she can.

sallylou,

I agree it's of utmost importance to have a close trusting relationship with your hearing care provider. Whether they are an Audioligist or a licensed hearing aid dispenser doesn't always mean good/bad. Miracle-Ear does have some offices and franchises owned and operated by audioligists.

The important thing is that the hearing professional cares about you and the quality of care they are providing to the patient. Consumer Reports had an interesting article in their July issue covering this.

For what it's worth, I am a licensed hearing aid dispenser in two different states and have been helping the hard of hearing for over 22 years. I've seen poor quality fittings from both sides of the fence.

saxmanglen, you have a vested interested in this debate. I'm offering my experience as a deaf person. My audi has a doctorate and I chose her for this reason. I'm sure that there are qualified dispensers out there, but it's impossible to find them without some assurance of credentials or certification.
