My Birman cat Tuna is missing for nearly 2 weeks, she has micro-chip since she was kitten. I believe she is kidnapped because she is so beautiful with seal pointed face mask, brown legs, tail and 4 little white socks with cream fluffy fur coat and bright blue eyes.

I was told it is good idea to have micro-chip on animals, because it will find and return to the owner soon or later.

May I ask you what is the different if the new owner will tell the Vet a lie that she/he moved to a new address if they see my cat Tuna's original address in computer? As I said it because
I gave away my Alastian dog few years ago, she has micro-chip on her, and I never received a phone call from the Vet or anyone as she is living in different address with my approval for few years!!!

I have report her missing to the Vet and RSCPA.
 
Interesting about the micro-chip in pets....I have a question, before you have decide to put the micro-chip inside your cat , Did you asked the vet what will happen when they do find the pet and located the owner....Did you ever asked if someone would lie to the vet and say Oh yeah we moved..or pretend to be you .....I am wondering about that because it would be best for the vet to check ID to make sure the person is being honest about their pet....BUT, u know some people don't take their pets at the vet at all....

U see when Kennel find pets on loosed and they grab them and take it back to the Kennel ...if there 's a tag or a micro-chip and find out who the owner is and when they do...Kennel always asked for ID Or any kind of information to be sure that pet is yours.....I am wondering does Vet does the same thing?...

Important reported to animal control and will spread it out to Vets about ID mircochipped nbr..
I do use mirochipped ID..

micro-chip on animals ? Interesting... I only thought it´s for humans only...

David Beckman & his wife Victoria put their 2 children micro-chip for their safety.

It´s the best proof that mirco-chip doesn´t help to trace your Tuna... or kidnapped etc...

I´m wondering what David & Victoria react when they learn that it doesn´t work..
 
I would never put microchips in my body or my kids! For pets, sure.. but for humans, no way!
 
I heard that Demi Moore and Bruce Willis's children, Rumer, Scout and Tallullah has each special micro-chip teeth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :crazy:

Being Famous, they pay high price to protest their children. That's life

Yes the Vet injection microchip in Tuna's body near the neck, it is very small piece like this size # which had lots of information by scanner!

Unless this animal go to the Vet, or Animal Rescue, they will see the information by scanner and so forth.

Sometimes they put microchip on native animals, eg Koala, birds and they want to know their whereabouts to study for their research etc.

I recommend you may contact your vet and Animal control to report that your dog is missing or stolen. If your dog is stolen there is a chance at some stage it will have to have veterinary treatment a suspicious vet can easily check the chip matches the ‘owners’ address… if the neighbours report a new dog that matches a stolen ones description it is easy to prove the dog is yours.

BullymOm, sorry to be cruel to say, I hope Tuna will need vet treatment soon or later, so the chance of reunion will be lovely!!

Yes, I have report to all that she is missing, they are pleased to know she has microchip.
 
As I start it as I haven't heard any happy ending story to found long-lost animals, have you? It is like a million to one miracle ! :-o

Oh c’mon—the microchip is literally the size of a grain of uncooked rice, and it takes all of about ten seconds to implant. You’d be crazy not to want to protect yourself and your loved ones when it involves such a minuscule investment of time and money.
 
Hopefully in the future there will be a radio included into the microchip so you can track your pet by GPS. (global positioning satillite)

it's nothing like you push a button and it's located on a screen. the only way to detect it is when it is brought into a vet office or humane society, and the vet tech will scan the pet and see if there's a microchip. and once if there's one, they'll contact the rightful owners.
 
one of them my breeders who told me about missing pure breed highly yes... and found them by helped mircochipped..

Alley Dogs or mixed breed rarely be found but don't see anything about mirochipped.
 
Aww RedRum! I'm so sorry to hear about your cat! That sucks! But don't worry! In Sept my friend lost her cat. It was missing for 4 weeks and she came back! She was perfectly alright! And i don't think taht she's microchipped either! I hope that you get her back coz i know what it's like when animals go missing. It's not cool. I hope you get her back! FEEL BETTER! *hugs*

In Britain, prisoners are allowed to go home with a lock on their wrist or ankle which has a homing device so they can be found easily if they try to run. It is called home detention.

Hey RedRum,

I am wonderin', if that micro-chip is a battery with a "lithuim" inside ? What about, if it starts to crash in animals' body ? Will it cause the animals to suffer with "boils" or "grievously sore" ....like blisters all over the body ? I am just wonderin' what would happen to the animals, if it crashes. I hope the animals don't suffer anything from it.

No No you have it all wrong. It is inert, no power, nothing. It is like the magnetic strip on your credit card or eft (electronic funds transfer) card which holds information but is not powered. When you scan the card at a shop the scanner reads the information. The microchip in the animals is exactly the same. It stores information but has to be scanned to read the information. It will not hurt the animal even if the chip fails.
