Member Name Change?

I had to change my handle name even though I did NOT want to change it. I still miss my old handle name because I've had it for SO LONG. I changed it due to work and security reason. Someone from work found me through my blogs because I recongized my work IP address and I nearly fainted! Several people from work had my AIM screen name and that's how one of them traced me through yahoo and google and read my blogs. That person became a fan and I had to delete all my blogs and change my handle name here. Although once in awhile I feel like changing back to my old handle name.

Should I? Should I not? :dunno:
 
I had my former handle name "I will be smaht" changed bec I wasn't myself at that time so I change to this currently handle name so I can be myself again.
 
ive had my Fly Free SN since i registered on AD and have NO plans of changing it -- i LOVE my handle name! its the same SN on other forums im a member of as well :D

my AIM sn's change every few years -- when something inspires me, i change it
 
i dont like it when members change their names. because then i never know who is who.

for my handle.. I would NEVER change CoolieFroggie.. no no way.... I had alot of cooliefroggie for user name or anything like that.. CoolieFroggie is alway in my heart.
 
I never change my username from this AD, Sweetheart to something since. But maybe in the future, I might will change. I dont know, lets see what happen.

But AIM, wil change scn if few people finds me and start bother me so I have to change my scns. I did change 6 scns in once :roll: few people dont know how to leave me alone.

that is scary! That is why i dont do stuff like blogs on the internet at all! I
just cant trust the internet..just call me paranoid haha...If it makes you feel
better changing your handle name, then do it.

Yeah that's why I did it few months ago and still am trying to get use to this new handle name. LOL I may as well stick with this one because I don't want to confuse everyone than they already are ha! :D
 
Here's what I think...

When you're changing your name, you're not being yourself. You're not making yourself unique. You pick a name that you feel fits you. Don't change it just because someone told you so or because it reminds you of your boyfriends. It's like getting a tattoo except it's not permanent... but the concept is still the same. You get a tattoo with your girlfriend's name on it. Later, you break up with her... you're screwed. Although getting a member name isn't unique, it should be treated like a tattoo. What you pick is what you should keep. It's the same with emails and AIM. You pick an email address that you keep. If you have people bothering you, simply ignore them. Email services have BLOCK features. Same with AIM, they have BLOCK features too. Other than that, just ignore them. If you sign on AIM and someone IMs you, it's not going to disconnect you from the conversation you're having with someone else. If someone emails you, it's not going to disconnect you from the email you're currently reading. If you add a new screen name for professional purposes, that's fine. I have two emails and two AIMs. One is for online purposes where anyone I meet online can contact me. The other is for professional purposes where only people from school or my family can contact me. That's a good reason. However, if I picked a name like "IAMAWESOME69" cuz I think 69 is hot and sexy and that I think that I am awesome... then later I am depressed, I change it again. Later, I have a new girlfriend... I change it again. Later, I break up with her... I change it again. How is this going to look for me? It's going to make me look like I can't make up my mind or I don't know myself well enough to accept who I am.

I picked VamPyroX because it's a call sign that I used when I was an online gamer. It's the same name I've used in several other online forums as well. I haven't played many online games lately, but I've come to accept this name cuz that is how everyone recognizes me.

I'd hate to be introduced to someone here at RIT by someone else... "Hey, this is Vampy. Remember him from AllDeaf? Vampy? Oh, I mean... VamPyroX. No? Oh, my bad... I mean BigJohnsonX. No? Hmm... oh yeah, I forgot he changed it a few months ago. It's GamePhreak. Wait, still don't recognize the name? Hmm... oh yeah, it's DVDPhreak. Argh! I forget. Anyway, this is umm... whoever you want to call him."

How stupid would I look? How stupid would my friend look for trying to introduce me? I bet we both look like idiots to this person who is probably looking at us and thinking, "Eh? I guess people from AllDeaf always change their names. I guess I'll never make friends if they're going to keep changing names on me. I think I'll avoid AllDeaf."

Uh oh... not good news for us! *shakes head in shame*

I have morcaan stalkers in my msn online... I know how to block them... and I had one stalker in my AIM online once... After converstion, I realized something not okay with him so I block him straight way... No bother ever since.

Funniest, I never forget in my life is Mayoische came to my msn online to fight morcaan stalkers and kick them out.... :rofl: They haven't visit to my online ever since...

I was panic when I saw one of morcaan (sp) show his penis on webcam... on the same time as RR msn me... I asked him for the help how to block him... After that I learn how to block AIM or MSN....

But screen name of msn and AIM online stay unchanged because I know I can block them and remove my msn and AIM in my profile.
 
:) I really like my screen name too, I won't change it, and I agree with other members that it would be a hassle to change the name and the information that goes along with it. As for my AIM screen name, I plan on keeping that too, if anyone bothers me or stalks me? Then I will just block them. :)
 
I have been Tousi my entire Internet life, a span of about 10 years now.

No, they will not think we are talking to a ghost since they will see us mentioning about your sn and 2 other SN are all over here in AD!

I have MsGiglz for long time.. I was single back then.. and..
I have my man.. for pretty long time.. and kids..
so.. got tired of that nick name..

try to get habit to use the name Doofusmama.. since more people saying Doofus..
I should have Old Douche bag.. that i always say it myself.. for years.. but now i havent.. (whew) lol..

I have nothing to hide for changing names.. but some have good reasons.. or no good reasons..
