Meds & the Pharmacy.....

Just the other day, I had surgery on my hand, and the doctor gave me 20 pain pills....1 every 6 hours if needed for pain, (Hydrocodone).
I picked up the prescription via the drive-thru...and went home. I didn't need a pill until late that night when it started throbbing, so I took one...and finally fell asleep.

In the morning, I looked at the prescription bottle and it said "20"....I counted them and I only had 11 pills!

I keep all my meds in my dresser drawer....and called the Pharmacy to let them know that they had "shorted" me of 8 pills.....I got the "run around", and of course there was no way to prove it.

The same Pharmacy (Walgreens) just recently arrested several pharmacy workers there for "pocketing" prescriptions....it had not crossed my mind that it would happen to me!

Next time I have to pick up any prescriptions, I know to "count" the pills at the counter, in front of the worker who runs the customer service desk.
 
That sucks! Hopefully if you do count they will be caught right then and there.
 
Oh these pills yeah I know what your talking about cause that is what I am taking :)

I haven't been on PC much lately due to shoulder/neck pain. I have been off work for a good while due to this issue, as right now it seems to improve. Hope back to work soon! Some of you wondering why I haven't response those PM for a good while, now you know. :)

Hydrocodone is generic for Vicodin and they do give you high, depending on your tolerance. That is why anyone can steal it.
 
Man, We use Walgreen's and have never run into a problem. MIL has 9 prescriptions monthly as well as the special ones when she has certain things going on. 2 of her meds are ones that people could sell on the street. Mother's are worth a thing for people to steal, neither are mine.
 
I did use Walgreens in the past, but a local grocery and pharmacy has a discount plan for folks who apply for it. It is free to sign up. Most of my meds are now about 4 or 5 dollars each. My husband uses WM for the cheaper costs, but I do not like them for many reasons. Mostly much too crowded. I have not had anyone steal my Rx at all.
 
I use an old timey pharmacy....it still has a soda shoppe inside. Greasiest eggs in town. :hmm: seems like a conflict of interest now that I think about it.

My RX was stronger than 5mgs....lot of internal cutting on my hand....but, yeah, these pills are sold on the street....
Pissed me off!...But I'm savvy for the next time!...I've a very loud and booming voice, so it should be heard all over the store if they "cheat" me again.

Wow , I have not seen a pharmacy like that in many moons! That being back memories.
 
That really suck! My pharmacy will tell me when they did not have enough pills to fill my order. I would be really piss off! Can you call someone about this ? Like BBB and report it.

wow.. yeah.. I always watch out for that stuff if i get my rx. hydro's are a thing of the past for me tho

Yes, because it's my neighborhood pharmacy. But I'm aware now of their "little game"....so if ever I do need a prescription again for pain, I'll go "inside", pour the pills out on the counter, and personally count them.

It's the first time this has happened to me, since most of my family's prescriptions are just ear drops or my son's acne meds....or pills for acid reflux, nothing worth stealing and selling on the street, UNLESS someone needs that, too!...So, basically, it's wise to count your pill prescription before leaving the pharmacy. Seems a lot of people are out to "make an extra buck" or want the pills for themselves and can't get an RX for them....so, they'll steal yours if you're not aware of the "scam" they are pulling.
 
Smart idea. And if they hate it or feel embarrassed by you doing that, phooey on them. I better start counting mine there, I never thought to do that until now.
 
I dont normally count these pills but i should! my girlfriend has several medicines and always count them. if there is one missing and she made call and got one. I have to count them more often, as good habits. eh. thank you for passing the words to us.
