McCain suspends his campaign

This is way too easy.

Obama asked McCain to do a joint statement for the press, but McCain for some reason gave him the impression they'd do it... then went off on to make a statement by himself with the press.... later saying it wasn't time to make statements.. it was time to take action.

It's silly to suspend his campaign for one issue.

If elected President, will he 'suspend being a President' for one day because he needs a break? :roll:

One of the roles of being President is being able to multi-task on more than one issue.
 
McCain wants to postpone the debate because of a crisis of unprecedented proportions (next to the Great Depression) and Washington needs him there so he is putting aside politics for the next day or so.

What's wrong with them debating, say, next Monday?

Anyway, they gussied up Washington U. here and all the dawgs are running around with lipstick, ready for a good show, lol. Seriously, what if he decides to cancel Monday's debate? I dunno.

Yeah, if he needs to postpone the debate again, he'd probably have a good reason. I don't think he's shunning debating cuz that would be dumb politics, right? The current crisis is "calling for all hands on deck" as he put it. Obama should be there, too. Let's hope that a deal is hammered out that addresses the problem without unfairly doing in the taxpayers of this country.

The Republican Senate Majority speaker said that they didn't need both of them in D.C.

Oh, I see. McCain
is highly respected within the Republican party despite their problems with him over the years and they want him there to help hammer this out. "Not needing both of them" doesn't sound right in this time of reaching across the aisles so, in that spirit, I shall refrain from delving into whether or not Obama really needs to be there, lol. In the spirit of bipartisanship, Obama should be there. If something is hammered out today that gets us off the right foot, I am sure McCain will go down to Mississippi. After all, for the past at least four months, McCain has called for a series of debates probably a hundred times and, initially, it seemed that Obama was resisting but a series of three (not enough for me, I don't think) debated was agreed upon. So, no, McCain's not afraid to debate.

However, if it takes past today to hammer something out in Washington re: the current crisis, I don't see the problem of postponing the debates for a few days even though I know that election day is a scant 40 days out and that the American public deserves to know more about these guys and what they envision for America. This bipartisanship going on as we speak is of utmost and unprecedented importance and I think the American public realizes and appreciates this, too.
 
McCain can still make it to the debate on Friday night. What´s wrong with that?
 
Where's the "bipartisanship" when Obama is not invited? As far as I know, the Act is a done deal behind the doors, with no oversight or review by any court of law. Why isn't the public invited as well? Tsk.
 
Debate on a Friday night? I would rather be out to have fun than to listen to a debate on the week-end!

Obama was invited at around 6pm EST yesterday by the President who called McCain, too.

Today, President Clinton said McCain has acted "in good faith".

Let's not go overboard here in AD....

Has nothing to do with multi-tasking. If you're not going to participate in bipartisanship here on the boards for a couple of days, I don't want any part of it.

Look up what President Clinton said.

That is beside the point.

One of the things about being a leader/President is being able to switch from topic to topic under pressure and at a moment's time.

By suspending his campaign to focus on one issue isn't showing good leadership. He could still go to Washington to take care of this issue and still debate on Friday.

By opting not to debate he is just merely playing the "scare tactic" towards the American voters to get them to vote for him.

This has nothing to do with bipartianship.

Just like Palin said she turned the sound down while watching a scathing skit on Saturday Night Live about her. Yeah, right. lol
I am still waiting too see what changes are going to be made to the Act.

I think there's more bipartisanship being shown by most members of the Congress right now but perhaps not by McCain and Obama. Yes, again, they will debate on Friday IF there's an agreement in principle for the Congress to pass the relevant legislation and Obama will probably stay in Washington, too if he thinks it is good for the Democratic Party. McCain, too; they are both jockeying...I can see it and I can see it only because I told myself to be bipartisan for the moment. Are you doing the same?

I think addressing this issue is more important than debating about foreign policies.
