Massachusetts senate passes illegal immigration crackdown

you do realize that by doing it anonymously - the police takes it with a very tiny grain of salt? This is no different from employees calling anonymously to report sexual harassment, employer abuse, corporate misconduct, and dozens of other things. oh and also anybody can do it anytime by placing anonymous call to ICE to report that somebody in neighborhood or store is an illegal.

It's different in that it is based on race and perhaps language spoken. I don't have a single problem with this hotline though. I just think it is silly to say hotline good, ask immigration status bad.

and Racial Profiling is only illegal for LEO and federal officers to use when enforcing the law. It does not apply to civilians but they can be held liable for defamation.

nope. no difference.

Covered already

there you go. pretty much debunked your silly post above.

Nope.....but again I don't care. I am happy with both laws. Hope they work.

If you want to believe people will not use the hotline soley based on race leading to a waste of government money investigating those claims that is your choice. :)

I say that WILL happen but I still don't care as long as in makes a dent in illegal immigration. Anything to encourage them to go home,,,,I am for. I don't even care that poor Jose and Maria might lose their job having done nothing wrong since the arrived. Maybe that will encourage them to go back and try to enter legally.

I see the flaws in both laws.....but at least they are both proactive attempts to fix the problem. I applaud and support both laws.

I don't care what people will use to act on it because they do not have the arresting authority. The racial profiling law does not apply to them but they are liable to defamation lawsuit. People are free to be racist, bigot, ignorant, stupid, etc. That's fine. That's their free choice. But it's a different matter for federal/state enforcement.

Massachusetts's new immigration law makes sense. Arizona's law doesn't. Good luck to Arizona because its new law comes with financial burden.

So, your for allowing people to be racist, but you support Arizona's law because it strictly prohibits LEO's from racial profiling?

whoa. reading skill fail. try again.

It's pretty much what you said ...... your against racial profiling (Arizona's law prohibits LEO's from doing it) but you also state that people will be racists no matter what law is passed (and Massachusetts law does not make racial profiling illegal ....)

Wirelessly posted

Who has the baton? The taser? The pepper spray? The rifle in the back of a car?

When a civilian causes harm to another, they believe that they're doing something society fails to resolve.

When a LEO causes harm to another, they believe they are upholding the laws.

1. FYI - racial profiling is illegal on federal level... signed by President Bush so it applies to all 50 states
2. Do you think we should pass the law that it's illegal for civilians to be racist?

Still hung up on the strict definition of the term rather than the act........oh well.

I'm not worried about AZ.......I am sure they will come up with a way to fund the law.......They have alot of support.
