Marching band + Rain+ HA and CI= complicated.

Right, I had chat with Cochlear, They said as it's backward compabilty, they haven't yet altered the processor for N22, they reckon it's about 2 years before N22 patients can recieve the Nucleus 5.

Thanks for finding out!! No Nucleus 5 for me for at least 2 years then.

Yes I have Freedom but what i was talking about was that cochlear had to go through to make the freedoms backward compablity for N22 and other implants so therefore everytime we get upgrade there will be a wait for it to be upgraded to work with the any current internal implants.

Ah I see. Thanks!

hahaha, well guys, we finished out marching season by Bands of America Grand nationals. Avon High school from indiana won grand nationals, which is twice in a row of last year. My band placed 12th in the nation out of 91 bands. So we're pretty lucky. =)

My dad was talking to me about the new Nucleus 5. He said that the cable of the magnet can come apart. which is pretty cool!
and my dad talked with my audiologist saying that the N5 can work with my N22 implant because of backward compality i'm guessing as what most of you said on this topic.

Dude I'm so not surprised by Avon... they're pretty snooty about it too. Aside from Avon, Ben Davis is another competitor I don't really like. Mainly because they stole my old band director LOL.

That's great though for y'all! Good job! Hope things go well for CI changes.

haha, we're like kind of sick of hearing avon's name in the achievement awards and hearing their names in random order for finals/ semi-finals. Because Avon high schoool and Carmel high school are the BOA judges favorite bands. So apparently that's why they won grand nationals. I heard that in prelims at BOA, carmel was about to do their show and all of a sudden st.lucas oil stadium fuse went out and the lights didn't come back on for 15 minutes or so. i thought it was hilarious because they're one of our biggest competitiors.

Thanks for the tips guys. Me and my dad will try and figure something out about the rain+ CI situation but if you have any ideas feel free to post :)

Marching Band

I wear BTE's, and rain.. ugh. I actually stopped wearing them this summer when doing outdoor sports, because we were going to have an outdoor competition, rain or shine, and I wanted to be independent of them just in case. Of course, then it doesn't rain. However. I play the sousa in the marcing band, and... sometimes wear my h-aids. Frankly, it's a wall of noise in my section, and I stand right in front of the percussion section. Anyway, whenever it would start to rain I'd either pull the ever stylish yank-beret-over-ears or run and hand them to my mother. I don't play very well anyway, so.. :D I was kind of.. relieved/pleasantly surprized to find out that I realllly didn't need to worry about the rain. I accidently put my h-aids through the wash, and they survived! No problems! A little water-resistand :D. A girl who is a flag (so no hats) wears an older hearing aid, and I think she just runs it to the equiptment manager/runs for cover. I would definitely look at getting the ear gear, or, you could try cutting/re-shaping a balloon or cutting up a poncho. Just depends.
