Okay, make good use of watching football and still stay physically fit...

Before the game, get 1 used milk jug full of water and use water as you excersice and do warm ups for 1 long hour maybe 2 hours of warm ups ...

1st Quarter , pushups non-stop while watching the football game.

2nd Quarter, situps non-stop while watching the football game.

3rd Quarter, pullups non-stop while watching the football game.

4th Quarter stretch again non-stop while watching the football game.

After the game go outside to jog with water and run as you please and come home have some more water to drink and relax !!!!

That is how the US Marine Corps keep fighting fit!!! The USMC are really pyscho and fanatically charged hardcore and dedicated to physical fitness. They waste no time and no excuses and excersice self discplince to the extreme. You will be too and become more hungry for fighting P.T. time !!!

I have dedicated this posting in red to honor the excelling, dedicated, crazy, brave and hardcore , fanatical USMC. The USMC has a " Do or Die " attidute in everything that they do. Semper Fidelis + God Bless the United States Marine Corps !!!

It is sad how young people are not physically fit.

I work at a college. Most of the students are much less than half my age but they weigh almost twice as much. On campus, they shuffle from class to class, building to building. They all try to park as close to the buildings as possible because they don't want to walk. None of the students can keep up with me whenever I walk somewhere (and I am short, with short legs, so it should be easy). During classes I drink from my water bottle. The students drink sodas or large fancy coffees, and they eat bags of chips, candy, pastries, etc. Unbelievable! Many of them have Type II diabetes. :(

:gpost: I agreed with you...

My brother went to college all through out 7 years to get PhD degree..
He got real sick.. had pacenra infections and high chance to get diabete.. so he changed his diets.. hes doing better.
but I have seen in college students and HS too..

Now days, we have computers.. we sit for hours.. I keep myself paces, excerise and eat.. I gained few cuz of this winter is so cold, when the spring comes.. I bounce out and exercising all through summer to fall doing gardening.. hoe, shovel, raking, and go for walks.. If Minnesota doesnt go cold, I would go out for walk..
hehe.

Speaking of Physically fit, My son Markus wanted to join football, but I wouldn't let him at this time because number one he is still young, going on 11 in Jan. I'm more corner about his injuries he might as possible receive from playing football. You know football is a dangerous sport in my eyes, I don't want to be the one worried what would happen during practice or during the game, So I told him to wait it off until he is in high school. I'm sure some of you would disagree with me, but that's how I feel as a mother. I have encourage him to join other activities but his mind is set on football only. I'm all to physically fit, I love playing sports such as softball and volleyball, and I do played football catch with my son, and kick ball as well for the fun of it. I also love to take walks around the blocks, Just hope my pants don't fall down from all that walking. :giggle:

just because someone is skinny does not make them physically fit. they could be skinny but cant run a mile without stopping 50 times. a fat kid could out run a skinny kid. look at Chris Farley he could do cart wheels and shit.

True. Especially skinny smokers. But college girls who are 18-22 years old and weigh 200-300 lbs are no way physically fit. Believe me, they are NOT doing cartwheels. They shuffle when they walk, huffing and puffing.

Let him play football and not be held back due to your fears. Don't be a fearful mother at the expense of your son. Explain the dangers to him then let him go play football. He needs to learn to be a man now. You want your son to be a very tough man later in life. You know that women like tough , aggressive guys and not guys who are wussbags. Please also realize that they have safety helmets and vests etc. You should be happy it is not played like in the old days no safety equipment also did you know that the U.S. President I can't remember which president got involved in making sure football was safe all over the USA, in the old days when many young guys were being killed and dying from their injuries. Football today is alots safer than it used to be so give your fears a rest and let him go play football. You might even see his young soul soar like an eagle and be a very proud mother. :)

I know some people like this at my school, definitely. It's REALLY sad. And what's worse is the food these same people eat--there's no effort whatsoever to lose weight.

While I know there have been efforts to make sure there is P.E. in all of the schools so kids have healthy habits, I might suggest that sometimes those efforts backfire. What happens if you're in an abusive situation, in that P.E. class? And that's pretty typical, too, given that P.E. teachers (for the most part--there are always exceptions) seem to be the bottom of the barrel as far as teachers go. The ethic fostered in P.E. classes tends to be very cutthroat, "the weak shall perish", and sometimes the P.E. teacher encourages or at least allows harassment of those with less natural talent.

It's a shame when this happens because it just further discourages the kids who probably NEED the P.E. class the most. IF mandatory P.E. is going to continue, then I think there needs to be a much more supportive, and highly disciplined environment. Competition and winning at all costs are not what should be taught.

(Sorry for the semi OT rant...this is just a sore spot for me.)

No problem you do bring up many good points and no I don't think it is off topic either. :)

Not all fat people are weak. Some fat women can break your neck, you better watch out! Some are so strong, they can carry 250 pounds with no trying. Some are lazy, some are not.

As to the key to health, I have only one thing to say:

Run, Forrest, run.

Excerise is good but children loves play outside that part of excerise too..

Foods are great but depends how much you eat.. :X

Right and Amen.... My nephews and nieces love to play outside in all weather does not matter what the weather is like outside just like when I was a kid and used to play outside and had not a care in the whole world and the weather did not bother me at all. That is the cool thing about the kids, they are innocent, pure and holy and has no real understanding of the worldy matters and the kids find everything awesome. My mom used to always try and rein my brother and me in when bad weather was fast approaching and we would sneak out to play outside in the rain and mud until the lightening scared and scurrried us in the door. My mom said not one word and let the lightening and thunderstorm vibrating booms speak for itself then later my brother or I would catch a cold then become sick then stay home and my mom would say " That is why it is not good to play in the rain " ( my brother is hearing all my family is hearing I am the only one Deaf ).

I am an adult now and I see my nephews and nieces doing the exact same thing I did as a kid. My nephews don't wear a coat and don't listen to their mom then I am the uncle and have to step in and they finally grumble and throw on a coat to go outside and play. I had to laugh because I used to do the same thing with not listening to my mom and refusing to put on a coat and only to have my dad step in to make sure we listened to my mom. My family tries to watch what my nephews and nieces eat so that they will be strong and healthy. It would not be fair to them if they were fat, unhealthy and lazy then they end up wishing they could do this or that which demoralizes confidence in the kids big time, man ! When I have a wife I can call my own and start a family then I am making sure they are the strongest kids in the neighborhood. :)

This is my son we talking about here and my decision as well, Don't tell me what to do with my own child, second of all, talk about safely playing football for your information my nephew got hurt during the game while playing football. Why would I want to see my own son ending up in the same situation? Yet, you don't have children and you telling me how to raise my children?
