Oh good grief. That was way too many letters. LOL. The only ones I understood was DL.
 
CCL=conceal carry license, DTI=duty to inform, IL=Illinois.

Usually the officer will ask, "Do you have any weapons?" before patting down or searching the vehicle. At that time, you would reply, "Yes, and I have a conceal carry permit. My gun is in the console/ankle holster/glovebox/whatever." (Don't move until told to.)

That way, the officer doesn't "find" that you have a gun.

only 14? hmmm!!! despite of what happened to Philando Castile, I think it's prudent to inform the cops. Cops are very observant and I don't want to imagine what would happen if a cop got a glimpse of your gun while you're moving/gesturing around or taking your wallet out.
 
The funeral for the one shot in Minnesota was today. The pics are beautiful. (Which sounds weird to say that for a funeral but it's true) I would so hate to be that officer right now who shot him. The casket was carried by horse and carriage to the cathedral.

Seriously, you should know by now, anything you post on this forum (or anywhere else for that matter) is fair game and public therefore others will reply and quote as they see fit. Don't post if you don't want people quoting you. Simple.

Mr. President Obama and former presidents did visited and honored 5 fallen cops together few days ago.
 
Having a sign on my vehicle or license saying I carry concealed is NOT a good idea. The whole idea is to keep my protection out of sight. If I wanted people to know I have a gun, I would carry it in open view on my belt. I have the right to do that in Oregon (and in most western states).

As for a policeman (or someone else) seeing my weapon if I move, it will never happen. It's CONCEALED--secured out of sight and ready. I don't carelessly flash it.

Again, if ever stopped by officials--and it happens more often than people think--I keep my hands in plain sight and don't do crazy, stupid stuff like reaching into the glove compartment or into one of my pockets. That's just inviting trouble.

I don't think having a concealed carry decal on a vehicle is a good idea.

It can advertise that a gun might be in that parked car, and make it a target of theft.

The car might be driven by someone else in the family who doesn't have a CCL.

The CCL driver might not be carrying that day.

Some people consider it an invasion of privacy and some consider it a sign of aggression.

It makes the driver a target of anti-gun nuts.

It contradicts the concept of "concealed."

During our CCL instruction, it was recommended that we not be careless in informing people that we have a CCL, and definitely not inform people that we're carrying. (It's different in open carry states but I don't live in an open carry state.)

It's another way that government can keep track of CCL people and collect a fee by regulating the issuing of the decals.

A mirror hang tag isn't a good idea either, for the above reasons plus:

Hang tags aren't supposed to be left hanging when the car is in motion (I know, drivers with disabled parking hang tags ignore that rule all the time). That means, if a CCL driver gets pulled over, he has to reach over and hang the tag. That's another movement.

Finally, the police aren't going to put faith in decals or hang tags. They know that the bad guys who could do violence are carrying their guns illegally, and they aren't going to inform them that they're armed.
 
I haven't had to put the rule to the test because I've never been pulled over by the police.
 
Nevada is an open carry... it got me in the habit if I was pulled over to eject the clip, seperate them clearly, and place the gun in the passenger seat and then place my hands on the wheel with the car turned off.
