DENVER -- A former hospice worker pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a blind, deaf and nearly comatose 10-year-old girl with a terminal illness.

James Philpott, 55, told investigators he had sex with the girl because he wanted her to experience pleasure before she died, according to police.

He pleaded guilty Friday and faces a sentence of four years to life in prison or 20 years to life on probation. Sentencing was scheduled for Nov. 18.

Philpott, a licensed practical nurse, worked at the Hospice of St. John in Lakewood. The hospice said he resigned in July 2004 for reasons unrelated to the allegations.

Philpott had also been charged with sexually assaulting an 89-year-old woman at the hospice, but those charges were dismissed because the woman suffered from dementia and wasn't sure whether she had been assaulted. Philpott denied having sexual contact with her.

That is sick what he did to that poor girl!! He deserves to be in prison!!
 
I hate the wording they used.....It makes it sound like everyone who's deaf or blind is as severely profoundly affected as the girl.
I think there should be a different term for people who are extremely profoundly affected by their disabilties...
Oh, and that's gotta be the SICKEST mind ever! The girl's TEN years old....HELLO Mr. Pedophille!
 
thats very sick!!! I'm protest it cuz, he advantage of that little girl that has disabilities. Should punish him for it!

Ya think? Lol, an understatement if I ever saw one! Man, that guy needs to rot in a cell somewhere; it appears that this poor little girl was probably not his first, either! I think I'll pass on lunch today.......
 
:( How sad and degrading to take advantage of a little girl like that when she can't defend herself at all. His reasoning for this is beyond imaginable!!! I hope they put this guy away for life. He shouldn't be near any human being whether it be man, woman or child. He is just plain disgusting, and what he did to that young girl is purely disgusting.

while it's sick and sad that he did that but isn't that girl dead now?
 
10 year old girl? that's soo sad, I can't believe someone would actually do that...
