Man ignores child's cries for help, gets arrested

I would not be surprised if the guy was the cause of the broken leg in the first place.

Idiot... Probably Reba is right and he was one to hurt the kid in first place.

I bet Reba is right and was thinking the ass was the one hurt the child in the first place. I bet if the cops checked the poor child leg out they could had found the jerk DNA or finger prints on his leg. This is sicken , a boy get kick out of school hugging a girl and this guy doesn't even spend time in jail.

You and everyone else here think he did it.

Nope, read again, it will be misdemeanor not felony.

Sucks, and I think his child custody status should be revoked.

That's for endangerment. If he actually did harm the child, that's assault, and it will be a felony. There could also be other charges, too, such as child cruelty.

In his defense, he would have illness called addiction and needs help, that is how attorney would fix up for any crooks. Its common, but its sad really.

Did you realize that charges being dropped is common in criminal court. Usually due to overcrowding prison issues that they are trying too solve, less charges, the less time in prison. If every damn criminal charges were pressed all the way, our prison will be over filled number times than what it is right now.

Our justice is broken.

Im not against your opinion, I'm merely state the fact that the felony charges is not exist at this case. Maybe? It depends, really.

Charges being dropped is all too common, but when it comes to cases like these, prosecutors don't take these lightly, and will probably dig a little deeper to see how the injury came to be.

Problem is, the injury is not life threatening type, (That is in the eyes of legal system) but has urgent care that is needed. Won't die from it if wait 24 hours, but it will be damn painful. I broke my leg and it took me at least a day to go to hospital, it was merely few miles away!

If the injury were life threatening like non stopping bleeding, then it will be in whole different ballpark.

Good point. However, let's consider the fact that the child is 2, and defenseless, and unable to get help himself, and if the police hadn't busted the stepfather when they did, who knows what he could have done to the child. Scary to consider, because I'm a former PS2 player, and when I got disturbed, I didn't like it, and I could see the man losing his cool because the child was crying.

Other thing to keep in mind, I know you don't have kids of your own like I do. Here is caveat for parents with kids that started few years ago, probably 8 or something years ago, here in NYS, if a child is admitted in emergency room, CPS (Child Protection Service) people sometimes harass the child's parents and raise suspicious for child abuses. While I think it is with good intention, but I believe it will only backfired for those innocent poor parents who did NOTHING wrong, and end up couldn't decide whether to go to Emergency room in future or not, it DOES scares them like myself. Maybe this guy went though hell with CPS and wanted to avoid being harassed.

I went though once with my son, but my son told the story straightforward and we were relieved from CPS! So, every time if the injury on my kids is not life threatening I won't go to ER, I would go to Urgent care center.

Correct, I don't, and it's probably not a good idea for me to have any, considering my background.

Having children of one's own is AWESOME!!! I can't explain how awesome it is. BUT your right, it is not for everybody, so keep your snake behind cage if you can't handle kids. Yes, Kids CAN drive parents crazy sometimes.
