Maine middle school to offer birth control

Iit importants for parents to keep an open commuications with our children about sex and health issues without feelings embrasses to talk about it with the kids. Children should come to us to tell us and ask us any kind of questions they are curious to learn about and keeping the commuications open to each other.

Exactly but I also support sex education at school, too... Not that what the article written over offer BC but I can understand the reason why the government take control of parents because they are too closed mind to discuss open with their children over sex responsiblities and health issues. (I am not saying all parents but many).

I disagree with those article what and how to educate the students like that... because they need to know about sex responsiblity and health issues...

It's too early to give out the birth control pills/patch for the ages of 11 through 13. I am concerned about wacko/psycho men out there who could have sex with them just because, of what that school thinks it is OK to allow the 11 - 13 years old girls to have sex. What about sex offenders ? :ugh:

Some schools are full crap, believe me - because for one, some says that they are not allowin' sex offenders to participate for school activities and, NOW some schools are sayin' that it is OKAY to give out the birth control pills/patch to these 11 - 13 year old girls ???

Who am I goin' to believe now ? This is just ridiculous !

Sheesh, what is that school thinking of???
While I agree with sex education but giving these young girls birth control pills? Gee :ugh:

I bet some of the parents are gonna give them a big fight about the school doing that and will have meeting about that. The school need to use their heads to realized they have to talk with the parents first before giving out birth control methods. I would rather they educate the students then giving out birth controls. I would have kicked the school ass for that and even sued the school. They need to realized that birth control pills can do lot of harms to young girls such as 6 to 12 years old. They gone too far.

oh yes i will be one of the parent if it ever end up in my town districts.. I DO live in MAINE..

I just don't think the school has any rights to bring up giving out with pills or patch even with parent permission! mostly for UNDER 13 or 14 years old!

I mean There are way to teach children to have abstracts sex safety or something or have NONE.
I would "encourage school to use their health class to discuss about it, how to use, why this is for.. It's NOT ONLY for the sexual but it can also help their Moody swings, their ovaries ovulating etc etc...

I myself had hysterectomy a year ago! I am no longer have my flow! but I do get ovaries rupture once in a while, My OB doctor said if it keep going, I will be put on Birth Control Pills.. I don't need anymore medications I Have enough of taking them ! 4 is enough I wish less! HA

Anyhow, Educations are FINE..

I believe parents and child/children should have UPFRONT and OPEN communications about their *wondering if its safe or not. or too young or too old etc* I rather they to grow up and have FUN with childhoods FIRST, Educations FIRST, once school done with graduations/GED etc.. Fine your on your own but during School years I prefer them not influences!

There are sooo MANY MANY Peer pressures allover world

yeah,, they created a new birth control patch and my gyno says it not always 100% effeitive. Lots of guys love to blame it on the woman getting pregnant when they knew they been warned the risk of birth control method and not take responbilites for their part in the pregnancy or std or aids when they tend to deny it. Some men are jerks out there.

Yeah some of men are like that, also some of women are jerk too. Some of them lied to men that they did take the birth control but really they didn't and leave the father, expecting him to pay the children support. My cousin did that and I never support her or forgive her for that... ever...

well men need to be responblie too if they going to have sex with a woman and not get her pregnant,, then he should be wearing a rubber condom. But don't blame it on the child being born in the world by two adults making mistake. We all need to move on and let it go. The child will be the one suffering for the mistake adults bring in the world. Men need to use common sense to use rubber condom anyway. But remember birth control is not always 110% effetive. Some women still get pregnant anyway from taking birth control. There are so many type of birth control pills that don't always work even the new birth control patch do fail. But it does take two people make a baby. Birth control will not protect against STD, HIV and Aids. So it pretty scary to be a risk.

Re-read my post, I said when a woman lie to man that she already took the birth control. It will make man think it's okay to have sex because she already took the birth control so he don't need a condom. Plus don't forget that the condom is NOT 100 percent effective too. Wanna know deeply what my cousin did to the father?

My cousin was in love with him very very much, and he was keeping telling her no no no no, but till my cousin made him drunk and lie to him that she took the birth control. She thought if she do that then she can marry with him, which I would call "trying to force him to marry with her" or for even more, "rape". Not surprisely, he still refuse to be with her or marry with her even though he had the baby with her, he only would support the baby. So the father took care of the baby half time and the mother took care of the baby at other half time, and cousin decide to contact with the government to make him to pay the child support so she can have money just for herself, not the baby. Thus, the father fought with the court and he won the court against the child support.

So don't blame on guys if girls lie.

at age 6 to 8 years old? no way, the school should not be giving out birth control for younger girls as such a young ages. The school should talk with the parents first and the doctors. I would rather wait until my daughter is a teenager or older to come talk to me and talk about birth control issue. The school don't have that right to tell the kids to take birth control without a parents permission. The will get sued for that. What if some of the type of birth control pills harm a young child at 6 to 10 years old? Some side effect can be harmful. I think the school just need to have a sex education classes not giving out birth control pills that can be dangerous to the child. Have that school lost their mind? geez I would give them a hell of a fight with them over that issue.

No, It's explains in grade, it's said 6th to 8th grade, not age.

ahh well she shouldn't have lied to him like that to get him drunk. Just that some women can be just as bad as the guys. I am sorry abotu your cousin. But I hope in time there be forgiveness one day to let go all the anger. It shame that some people have not learn from their mistake until it was too late to take it back.

Then news said middle school, which means younger kids. They were not talking about high school teenagers. But I still believe is wrong for the school to that without the parents permission first.

but im been using birth control shot when i was teenager for years till i wanted changes birth control pills when i told doctors about that and im still using that birth control pills called lessina help me protect pregnant and peroid also.

mostly girls can learn if have peroid at any ages but im start peroid at ages 14 years old and i never told my mom about that and they now i told her i have peroid at ages 14 years old because my stomatch got little cramps because im woman now!

if your mom can tell you about birth control explain to mean they can going to doctor's office get that medicine and also if you become 18 or over 18 years old you will get pap smear but i did pap smear few times if you like or dont like but pap smear very easy or get hurt.

At any age, a girl can go to planned parenthood and get hormonal contraceptives without her parents being notified. I don't think schools dispensing it without a parental notification is any less ethical- PP also distributed without pelvic exams.

Yes, birth control has risks. Becoming pregnant is also a risk- being pregnant is DANGEROUS when you're that young.

Yes, girls that age (not married) SHOULD be using condoms each and every time, even if they're on hormonal bc.

I think that, if the school required some form of counciling (informing the girl of std risks, ect) and handed out condoms along with the pills, that it's a reasonable idea.

If it can stop ONE girl in the school from becoming pregnant or getting an std, why not?

as a parents I would prefer my child get permission from me since the child or teenagers are under age. If my daughter is over 18 she can decided what she want to do. But as a mother I would rather the school talk to parents first before giving out any pills or condoms to my daughter. The sex educations would have been fine way to start and teaching sex in the school. I approve of sex education. But not the birth control giving out to young girls. School should know better that a parents can sue the school if one of their daughter get physically sick from the pills or died from it. They body haven't developed yet to be teenagers in middle school. It so important for parents to sit down with their kids to keep commuication open about sex educations and the options they can have later on in life when they are much older to be on birth control pills. But I would rather they use condom. it a risk.

I dont agree with this. The school should be only responsilbe for teaching children only.

Okay . . . since you believe this, then I believe that deaf kids shouldn't learn asl until they have entered at least first grade. That means that speech training and the bi-bi approach cannot be done until then.

Parents 100 percent responsibility to teach sex education to their kids.

. . . I would rather wait until my daughter is a teenager or older to come talk to me and talk about birth control issue . . .

What better way to bond with your kids than to talk to them way before anyone else (including the schools) about sex. That way, they get correct information. If you're embarrassed to tell your kids about sex, you should be embarrassed of yourself. Get them while they're young, prevent heartache later on. That means that the child is told all about sex no later than age 10 and what to expect in a few years. Being a teenager today is hell compared how it was when us adults grew up.

Yes but students at middle school range in age from 11 to 13, not 6 to 8 years old, that's what Pacman was trying to tell you in his first post...

Recall Effort Under Way For School Committee Members - Portland News Story - WMTW Portland

here in my state, they're still at it... Recall on this votes etc
I still disagree with giving girls a pills or patch Even tho it's parents responsibility

but still.. I do not want School to know that my child to take the pill or patch IF it happen to her in future.. She may want to keep in privacy! so... for these middle school to give out even with parent permission etc is still wrong..
That is in my OPINIONS!

Yupp I agree with you, nobody need to know if a girl are taking birth control except for her partner.
