Mac OS X Mavericks

Interesting, I'm still using Snow Leopard OSX. It's gonna be a big jump when I do upgrade my imac to maverick next month.

Installed it (why not?) the other day. Very little seems to be different, apart from a stupid option in Safari which turns off browser plug-ins like Flash to 'save power'. Turned that option off right away!

New apps too.... the maps option and calendar. I like seeing how long to drive to my appointments locations in calendars....

I have two screens for my iMac too.... and now the tool bar at the top is on BOTH screens which is nice when one screen has a browser open full.

Nothing bad so far about it!

Ha ha...when I have meeting today, I got message that say "It will take you 33 minutes to drive there'

Then next message below it showing my meeting and time and location (Brad's office)

Interesting though that it popped up that message half hour before but I set the reminder 15 minutes before. Now the real answer is that it only take 15 minutes to get from my office to Brad's office.... not half hour!!!

Better than sorry. What's if there is bad traffic or something happen.

Finally updated OSX Mavericks on my wife's newer Macbook Air 13" and I love that map app and iPhoto already.

Simply, it is because Apple don't want any Micro$oft shyt in their machine. Thats why! Its not an issue, it is their (Apple) intention.

.wmv = Windows Media Video

Found an issue - .wmv files no longer get a preview in Finder like mpgs do.

Seriously doubt that's it. In all previous versions (going back to Tiger at the very least) they might not play in QuickTime but you could make the little preview play or show an image to tell what the file was.

I've finally installed Mavericks OS X... It's a lot of changes, coming from the Snow Leopard OS X. I had to upgrade the memory ram on my old mid 2007 iMac to 4GB before going ahead with installing Mavericks.

Add chip to 8 GB memory ram??

Took me a only a hour and half for my 2013 iMac to be upgraded :)

Yes, your laptop hardware can support up to 16GB memory, but pre 2008 Mac hardware have a limit of up to 4GB.

Suppose if SG wants more ram say 8GB or 10GB, she'd better off buying a later model or new one as it may not be worth to upgrade old Mac hardwares.

Fixed it for you.

Yes, but unsupported by Apple.

I can upgrade my 2011 MacBook Pro to 16 GB RAM.

Yeah since I have recently added 2 x 2gb... for 4gb... not worth it to buy a 4gb ram. If I want a higher ram I would have to wait until my current iMac dies first then look into getting a latest iMac or Macbook pro.
