The problem is, everything at the college specifically requires MS Office.
But I'll look into your recommendations.
Thanks, guys.
I'm going to ask the computer instructor about it tomorrow, if I get a chance. If she doesn't know, maybe she can check with the IT guy at the college.I knew you'd say something like that.
IMO - it's best to get an old version like 2008 or earlier for cheap. I think it's silly to spend that much on "latest" software that isn't very mac-friendly and it isn't a significant improvement from previous version. In fact - it's even more confusing!
I prefer 2003 version and I still use it. It's the only thing that makes sense and works exactly the way I want it.
I'm assuming that you need MS Office in order to read/write files for students. If that's the case, Apple software and open-source software (ie. OpenOffice) can read/write MS Office files and it can save the files in MS Office format too.
Oh, I don't like the OpenOffice at all. Though, it was pretty good. I don't think that Reba would appreciate to use that one.
She could get a better discount to buy the MS or iWork at the community college. I think that she would like that.

I buy all my software at student discount
My MSOffice 2007 Enterpise which include everything only cost me 59 dollar at student discount a couple of year ago when I brought it. It retails like 495 dollar or something around there
Windows 7 Pro only cost me 39 dollar or something when it was released.
Anytime you are a student and need to buy software, always check for student discounts online because it a huge savings.
Don't "loan" out your college email address to your family or friend so they can get it at a discount because you can only get one product per email address at discount. Example One MSOffice , One Windows 7 , One Dreamweaver, One Photoshop etc. You won't be able to buy same product again at discount.
.
I can get free Windows 7 Professional due to IT student, of course from MSDNAA, however we still have pay MS Office at student discount.
I'm going to check if the Exchange has iWorks.I did not know MS Office has a compilable software for Mac.. hmm cool.
Since Reba needs MS required by her college then I would say go for it. Try to find a discount being a college student.
No idea about the iWork though. Good luck with your decision, Reba!
Reba, we have MS Office 2011 installed on several MACs, and I have some engineers saying that it's a great software, much improved over 2008 version. I heard that they really like it.
Thanks for the link.I tried that before and not interesting. I am happy with Office 2008.
You can try Office 2011 for free trial.
