Lunar Eclipse in a 1/2 hour 12/21/2010 12:45 EST

I am staying up, but cloud cover may prevent that. :(

Its raining here, the weather will not permit me to see it.

Half of it is in shadow now. It is harder for me to see the front steps than the last time.

Watching it now. It's almost all the way there! Maybe 2 more minutes then I'll enjoy its glory.

I just came in :D! it looks awesome <3 Also something I realized ( but must have been obvious and have no idea why I hadn't realized it before ) Since we're having a Lunar eclipse it means that the other side of the world is having a Solar eclipse x__x ( it's a bit embarrassing that I realized this today after 16 years since my start of school )

Edit: Unless I'm completely wrong and my logic fails me >.<

Not for me. It was red, but it's not all dark yet. :cool2:

Outside is dark as in no moonlight at all. It is hard for me to make out the moon as it looks very faint... very faint. I had to hold on the front door knob to look straight up.

Totally overcast. Went outside to see what I could see, but came up with nothing. hmpf. :(

Aww. I remember seeing the lunar eclipse over Michigan several years ago. That one was even more beautiful than the one today. Did you see that one? The moon back then was much bigger and lower on the horizon.

I went outside so few times, after midnight and can't find a moon. :(

Same here due to the rain :(

1. if you live in city or heavy suburb - you won't see it due to its light and pollution
2. ya'all need to be at absolutely dark place like mountain or even in middle of empty highway with no streetlights
3. the common digital camera you have - you need to place it on bipod or anything that can keep it very still for a couple minutes. set it at lowest ISO speed. adjust your white balance (try different settings too). try infinity focus.

this is very difficult to do this with regular digital camera since your setting is very limited but try it out on regular moon and once you got your technique corrected, RECORD YOUR SETTINGS on paper so that you'll know what to do if this happens again.
