I recently saw a sign where someone holds up both hands pointing to each other with the palms in. They then tuck their thumbs to their palms and cross their 2 middle fingers. This is essentially like the "West Coast" sign that people make, just sideways so it looks like an "E". They do this with both hands and shake them up and down. What could this mean?!

That they have incredibly good coordination????

I can't even do what you seem to be describing. :ugh:

can you show us a video/pic??

or the context in which the sign is used ?

What is the context? What is the subject being discussed?

Probably Gangsta signs.

Many cultures make up their own sign language.

What is the "West Coast" sign? How does it look like an "E"?

Sorry, I can't follow that description. :dunno:

I think what he is trying to say is (if I may try to describe in a more visual way),

Handshape: 2 handed, handshape 4, with (on both hands) the middle and ring fingers crossed

Palm Orientation: palm facing self

Location: signing space infront of chest

Movement: shake up and down

Facial Expression: *can not tell from previous description

Hopefully this may help a little more, but I do not know what this sign means. As perviously stated, it may be a gang sign.

Sorry for the lackluster description, but you guys/gals have got it. It is kind of like that Tupac picture with his hands in the sideways shape to show an E instead of a W. Then he shakes it up and down. I found a picture of it a loooong time ago with a description, but now I can't find it and I can't remember. I don't know what to search for to find the picture without the meaning :(

i cannot imagine that sign in ASL language... must be something local?

I think it's the gang sign that you posted, or a modification of the same.

Unless flumox can add context or a video, that's all I can deduce from the description.

Flumox didn't describe the "sign" being used within an ASL conversation but in isolation.

I'd be careful where I used that "sign." ;)

Botts, your links didn't work for me. :dunno:
