This is going to sound weird and I hope I don't get booted out for this but I am not deaf nor do I have any hearing impairment, the reason I am here is to meet guys because I have a nervous tic which is not always audible but sometimes is like a hiccup and if it can't be heard then it won't annoy that person.

I have total respect for those with hearing impairment and don't wish to offend anyone, I am nice person really, and once again-I know it is a strange predicament but I've given it enough thought, I could go out with hearing guys as they don't seem to mind but there are times when stress aggravates the tic and only a person who can't hear it would be unaffected, or certainly they wouldn't become annoyed.

It's stupid I know and I'm not saying deaf people are the last resort and I'm not saying you'll accept a person with a tic more readily but I get so lonely sometimes, I'm 23 and have never had a proper boyfriend-I've had offers but I won't allow myself the possibility of humiliation.

I am patient and I adore people of any distinctions or class etc. I am willing to learn sign language.

There is one issue though-do you wear a hearing aid that would allow a reasonable level of hearing or does profound deafness mean that you wouldn't hear a hiccup-level sound?

Please don't think I'm crazy!

:laugh2:

What else can I think?

It sounds like Tourette's syndrome. You should see a doctor, it is a much less radical solution.

----> Correction

I would like to make it clear that it is not Tourettes, I have been told by a psychiatrist that you either have Tourettes from childhood or not at all. If symptoms develop after the age of 18 it's classed as a tic and if symptoms persist it is classed as a chronic tic.

Tourettes is having at least 5 different tics at any given time. I have only 1 which I've had for a few years and it hasn't got any worse.

Perhaps I should have distanced myself from Tourettes in the first post.

It's no wonder guys don't contact me if thats the common opinion...:roll:

Treatment= Habit reversal

Clonazepam

You probably will just develop more tics if you leave it untreated.

Anxiety and related to OCD.

Marrying into a new culture won't cure you. You will find a different anxiety.

Doesn't sound like a problem to me. Just a feature of yourself. I'm sure there's guys out there that'd be crazy just for you. Remember that life isn't great unless you live it until the end.

eh. Welcome to here, Nicole.

No worries, there are plenty dudes out there to waiting for you. Just patience.

Not to worry about your little predicament, it's not life threatening, but still something to look into. Its great to see someone from the UK as it is mainly visited by Americans and Australians. Drop me a line if you are interested.

It's obvious this area is new to you, so welcome and hope you are open to learning new things that may defy old ideas. There's nothing wrong about expanding your lake to catch more bass. haha.

I see nothing wrong with those "tics". If I don't have any problems with it, then there are obviously other guys out there that are the same. Don't give up. Don't blame it all on yourself. If they don't want to date you, it's their loss.

When a person is profoundly deaf, that usually means that he/she can't hear anything... even with a hearing aid.

Vamp is correct on the last quote and I second that. You will find lots of information about us Deafies, HOH (hard of hearing) and Hearies who are interest in learning ASL and about our Deaf Culture. So I hope you enjoy reading and posting all the threads here. Have fun with us. See you around. :wave:

Clonazepam - i loved that shit, i had to find a really good excuse to get it , mine was (and it was a real reason though - back then when i was a young dope fiend) i was gettgin racy thoughts due to excess experimentation with magic mushrooms and LSD.
the Clona did a spendid job sedating me, god i missed that dope, it really took the edge off.

I am a hearing person. I am not looking for a deaf girlfriend but if one day I happen to love a girl who is also deaf, I would love and accept her as she is. I understand your condition makes you feel lonely but being with another person for the wrong reasons wouldnt bring more happiness. I would suggest, if I may, search for the person you will love and who will love you back. If he happens to be deaf thats great, but do not use the situation as a safe harbor or an escape point.

I wish you best

Thankyou everyone, you're all beautiful.

It's a bit awkward people being nice, what can I say but thankyou...

I've been getting to know a deaf guy recently but I don't think it's anything special for either of us. It's tempting to just get together for convenience because unlike alot of people, I'm single-at least it seems like everyone is hooked up. I'm starting to hate couples.

It's better to follow your heart and let all that chemistry and passion happen naturally. As they say, love conquers all.
