looking for an “easy” name

When do you plan to have the book out? I'd like to get my paws on it! :D

Hi guys. The current book is out already. No deaf characters. But the novella I am working on right now that features a deaf character will probably be available in October or November 2008. It will be an anthology with a supernatural twist (i.e. vampires and shapeshifters and such).

I’m really enjoying my deaf character and I’m terrified of not getting him right. I want him to be real and normal and regular and authentic. I want hearing people to read him and not even really notice that he’s different. I want them to get a glimpse of the deaf world and say “cool, he’s just a regular, normal, everyday guy who can’t hear.” Except for the fact that he prefers men to women and can shapeshift.

Nadja, if you like, I would be more than happy to review it and give you feedback on how well the deaf character is presented? I'm a writer myself, and currently working on my first (vampire) novel. Of course, that's completely up to you. :)

I can't wait for the book to come out! :D

And the winners are ... Chase and authentic.

Got my autographed copy of The Protector by NL Gassert in the mail! Thank you so much for the kind inscription, Nadja, as well as for the colorful 'fridge magnets.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the Pacific adventure, especially descriptions of Guam. It's changed since I was there when Japanese soldiers had still not surendered.

It's an excellent read, and I'll e-mail a review after a second time through.

It's published?!?!?!?! This has got to be notified to Drago at deafqueer.org! (She has ties with U of Cal - or U of S.F. - for archiving purposes.)

What name did this deaf character ended up with, seeing that it is published?

Just trying to set the record straight as I know it (which isn't much):

The published mystery/romance book by Nadja I'm reading now does not have a deaf character.

I believe Nadja's current work-in-progress will feature a deafie, but we may have to wait till it's published to find out which of our suggested names she chose.

I believe Ive met Nadja on a writing forum a year or so ago, she sounds familiar.

Oh I wish I had the time to sit and write. For a period of two years it was normal for me to write 1,000 words or more a day. Out of all the stuff I've written I probably wouldve had enough to piece together a novel or a good compilation of short stories and essays.
