life of hear aids

the people here in India are not that much advance n open minded.Wearing hear aids r not that much common like eye glasses...i had never seen a person wearing hearing aid in my life except at my audiologist office.Before buying a new hear aid of my own i had tried bte of widex model i dont remember to see whether i will be benefit from hear aids or not and when i found i am, i purchased starkey cic hear aids because my audiologist adviced me that they will suit me n as i wanted cic hear aids only...the reason u know very well...

Given your competence in English (although I know that multi-lingual India uses it as a common language) you ought to consider a move to a primarily English-speaking country. You surely have relatives or relatives of friends living elsewhere who could ease the transition.

Alternatively, you could become an audiologist, or work with a charity which provides affordable HA's for the people of your country. Work to change the cultural values that trouble you, instead of bemoaning the problem.

Several variables cme into play-1) brand, My first set f hearing aids were Miracle Ears. Even though I paid $2200 bucks each out of pocket-they lasted 2 years and after they cost me $350 bucks to repair every year after that. Miracle Ear is garbage in my opinion. Then I got help from the VA and the VA issues Phonak-never had a problem with them since 2004 mechanically. One was crushed, one was eaten by a dog-pooped out but still worked. I was just issued a new set of BTE aids and hope they will have the same reliablity as the previos to Phonaks I still have today.

2) You must take care of them and protect them. keep them away from dogs as they will eat them, keep them away from cats as they will play with them. keep them away from toddlers and kids as they will break them.

3) Hearing loss can be progressive as is in my case and had to be repaced every 4 years. My ENT\Audioligist now say that this maybe the last set of hearing aids that will help me. CI may come next :(


Still waiting on my CAT scan results.

Do you know of any deaf schools in your area? India is a bigggg nation so i expect there is. At least one. I have know deaf indian people but never knewif they went to a deaf school in india.
You might be able to get info and resourceds from the deaf school

no i dont know.....nor i want to be..i am not deaf...i am hoh n i have spent my entire life among hearing people n futher also i want the same

Deaf doesn't always mean 100% deaf. It used as a term and some HOH people like to use it. You seems quite isolated so it maybe a good thing.
