Let's tax caffeine, legislator argues

I'm waiting for them to dream up a tax on anything that studies show is "bad for you"-even though such studies are done on mice.

If they start taxing food items-which are currently not taxed-I will join in a revolution. What's next-a tax on the air we breathe? It's gotta stop somewhere. I vote for raising the tax on alcohol.

Maybe, I saw on the news (local/Ohio) where they are talking about bringing back E-Checks for cars. Argh!

I do not know about other states but Ohio realized it was ineffective and just picking the pocket of those with a car and stopped, but it looks as though they are looking at reviving it - more money in the coffers.

With the latest in technology in E-checks for cars, it will definately count down on pollution, especially in Ohio.

We have E-Checks here in Washington state and it works wonderfully!

It was a dismal failure here. The counties that were doing it stopped.
I do not think the E-Check stations were properly ran which created a lot of problems.

I am in the country and pollution is not the issue it is in the cities. Especially the large cities in the north (Ohio) probably would benefit from E-Checks if done properly.

This just came in my mind - as a wild thought -

If things are continued to be taxed for no apparent reason just like this; I have to wonder, Would it be a repeat of the 'Boston Tea Party'?

Also, What good would come out of this?

What's Boston Tea Party ? I've never heard of it before.

Boston Tea Party Ship & Museum

Here you go, It's a good read.

Boston Tea Party is basically where a lot of angry people during the Revolution War decided to have a protest over UK taxing on the teas and dumped the teas in the ocean.

Ah, very interestin' article to read indeed! Wow. I never knew about Boston Tea Party.

So, umm...Jolie, do you think they scammed us for tax on everythin' ? :hmm:

:ty: for the link.

I can't wait to visit there when the renovation will be done in summer 2010. It is currently closed for renovation.

They should tax the hell out of porn, even the internet sites somehow. There's a high demand and no one is going to stop buying or seeing that junk.

You're welcome. :)

Well, I think "scammed" is pretty much a hefty word to begin with. Although, I can say that some things are reasonable to be taxed to begin with but however, it should be with moderation. I don't think it is necessary to tax everything just because some such desperate measure requires it to do so. The tax issue has been ongoing for a long time and it even existed way before the Revolution War though.

Cool. I've always wanted to go there to have a look but never did get to go there. Maybe some day I will, Who knows? :)
