Lesbian Teen Sues School Over Prom Issues

I never went to any of my proms. I didn't feel they were a needed expense.

No, it's not about biblical based values, it's about what the larger culture perceives as right or wrong. People like this guy are condemning people to hell if they don't fall in line with a certain set of values. This is backwards, JESUS himself loved all nor did he discriminate. Jesus loved and did what He could to show love. I wish pastors and preachers across America would get off their high horses because they are getting a nosebleed from preaching so highly until they are blue in the face.

The South needs to face it, homosexuals are no longer willing to stay on the fringes of society and are now finding their place in society. One of our chief investigators for crimes is an openly Lesbian woman with 2 daughters. She supports the community just as anyone else does. My friend is also an open lesbian, she is a line foreman at the local chicken plant. I am all but officially out. I want to find my place in the community as an educator, hopefully I will be a well respected one that can do a lot of good for the community.

If they say homosexuality is a choice, then so it heterosexuality. You are born with it.

The South??? Houston is on their 2nd Lesbian Mayor. New Orleans has a Hotel willing to host for free. Dallas has a Lesbian Sherriff and a large Gay Pride parade.

You makes no sense.

If it's a learned behaviour, where do people pick them up in a hardcore religious family, but still come out as homosexuals?

They became homosexuals by choice, not because they were born that way.

Ted Bundy was born and raised in a hardcore religious home. When he left home, he became a serial killer by choice and that choice cost him his life when he was found guilty in the court of law and put to death.

Yet you insist it's a learned behaviour.

:)

Rebellion? Please, their families throw them out! Why do you think they're closeted for so many years and have to calculate their coming out to their families?

Perhaps you don't understand Rebellion.....especially teen rebellion. The possibility of this is not even in question. The question is how often it occurs

My daughter's Christian high school didn't have a prom. They had a formal banquet. Everyone attended; they weren't paired up as couples or dates.

I've never really understood the big deal about proms. I guess it's big business for dress shops, tuxedo rentals, florists, limo hires, and caterers. :dunno:

Oh my god! Prom is "mandatory" otherwise you'd risk being ridiculed for not going to a prom. :)

To some, prom is very important. To some, it isnt. Nobody should be criticized for their views.

For the record, I was thrown out of prom by my own classmates, that's how unpopular I was. I was there for may be 15 minutes when people were being seated for the banquet and I was left without a seat and two boys from my class said, sorry there's no more seats I guess you'll have to leave. And they were laughing at me.I looked around and no one was letting me squeeze in at their table. I was sorely embarrassed, so I dropped my plate down, turned around and left. Instead of going home, I went to a friend of mine's house changed out of my prom dress, ripped the jewelry off me, and wiped the make up off my face. I never felt so unbeautiful and unwanted. And now people wonder why I have no intentions of ever having anything to do with my classmates. Should I get an invitation for a class reunion, I'll be throwing it in the trash. Why go back and open up old wounds? I was the class loser, freak, outcast, whatever it is you want to call it. I just know I never fit in and I never was going to fit in. To this day neither of those guys nor anyone from my class has come to me and apologized. That just tells me if they aren't mature enough to apologize, then I shouldn't have to forgive them.

Prom for me was a complete nightmare.

Teen agers can be so hateful and hurtful to one another! I really hate that you had such a humiliating experience. The ones that haven't apologized have taken the low road. You, on the other hand, have risen above such pettiness and meanness and turned out to be a beautiful woman with a huge heart. You won!

From a social point of view, they choose what they want to do, but when it comes to a scientific biological point of view, such supposition is not scientifically viable. There's no proof that homosexuals are born that way. There has been past scientific claims that homosexuals are born that way, but it's been debunked time and time again.

If such claims like homosexual "turtles" do it, well, turtles are not humans. They're an entirely different species.

I could say that while dolphin males rapes female dolphins, rapists could argue that if it's normal for dolphins to do it that way, then it's normal for a human males to rape human females.

Ridiculous argument I agree, but so is the idea of humans being born homosexuals. In fact, it's a learned behavior. Once they're exposed to homosexuality, they make a conscience decision to adopt the sexual lifestyle.

All I can say is... you're obviously not gay.

Either that or you're in some deep, deep denial.

My brother was on a nuclear sub in the U.S. Navy and I took his senior H.S. gf to her prom. I never went to my H.S. prom.

Probably because my friends all looked like this :D

I never went to the prom but I went to the military ball instead.

Navy JROTC's black uniform with medals and ribbons were much better than tuxedo with handkerchief.
