Learning to sign 1 handed

Yes, there are plenty of CODA etc that are wonderful teachers !!

On the other hand - I've seen some hearing people who after taking a few years of ASL classes somehow figure they "know enough" that they're going to "teach ASL" ( in community centres, youth groups, school "clubs" etc where anyone can teach anything if they "look like" they know what they're doing)

THAT is a disaster !

I've seen that too. Was instrumental in getting one fired from the Deaf Studies program at the uni where I got one of my degrees. Sat in on her class and was astounded at the ignorance she was spreading.

Why would it be a disaster? CODAs are as native a signer as their Deaf parents would be. They are perfectly capable of teaching the language.
Yes, I've had some excellent CODA instructors, in addition to excellent Deaf instructors.

No sign class tonight because of the earth quake. Cant get though on the phone to the youth group

Im worried that a youth center that has ment so much in my life(brought furniture and helped me get a place when i left state care is could now a pile of rubble and put up with my shit)Im worried
