Lawsuit alleges torture, abuse, fraud at local dentist's office

How are you deciding who is on her ignore list? I didn't think there was a way to see someone else's list.
There isn't a 'magic way' view somebody's ignore/block list... that's just not feasible anyway but it is easy to tell in some threads when for example Person A put Person B on their ignore list. People B and C posts something in the thread.. maybe as a reply to something. Person A will only quote and reply to Person C. And sometimes if Person B says something directly to Person A, they won't respond but will respond when Person C quotes Person B.

confused yet? yep so am I but it's not hard to tell by cues and how people post (or not post as the case may be).

Thank you! That is all I could think of but some have gotten so specific about another's ignore list.

Dentist Schneider made millions off medicaid

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- There is new information about a local pediatric dentist accused of harming his young patients and not performing procedures correctly.

Many of Dr. Howard Schneider's patients were on Medicaid.

As the investigation into Schneider continues, we've learned over the past 4 years, almost $4 million dollars in Medicaid reimbursement were paid to his practice.

The Florida Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud unit has opened an investigation into Schneider. The investigation started after last month hundreds of parents and former patients took to Facebook calling for the dentist to shut his doors.

Most of the Medicaid reimbursement money was paid in 2012 and 2013.

We do not know how that compares to other pediatric dentists across the state who receive Medicaid money. The Agency for Health Care Administration, which manages the data, has not been able to provide us a list of the highest earning dentist across the state.

So far, Schneider has not commented on the allegations made against him. As of Wednesday, his practice is still open and taking patients.

Besieged dentist reportedly closes down practice

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Protesters outside besieged local dentist's Dr. Schneider's office felt vindicated Thursday when he reportedly closed down his office.

For those holding signs and chanting slogans outside the doctor's office, this is the first step in the right direction. Next, they would like the dentist to be brought up on charges and pay out restitution to his victims.

As he left the office for what may be the final time, he made an inappropriate hand gesture to protesters.

Dr. Schneider told FCN's Ken Amaro that he had to close down because he had no staff and no patients.

Feel they did!...and scared also, as they had to know what his procedures were...and I do believe they will be held accountable along with the Dentist....Wondering too...how much "he was paying the staff"?....:hmm:

who knows... I am betting some of them had no idea what the hell he was doing. Others may know but were intimidated into not saying anything (or getting a preeeettty darn good paycheck...).

So I'm betting most of them walked out and word spreads fast among patients and would be patients (Good).

Wife files for divorce from pediatric dentist accused of hurting children

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The accusations against pediatric dentist Dr. Howard Schneider are growing.Action News was the first to tell you that he has raked in nearly $4 million in Medicaid payments since 2010.

And now his wife, Deborah Schneider, is asking where that money went.On Friday, she filed for divorce, claiming her husband of 15 years blocked her from their accounts and dissipated the funds. But attorney John Phillips, who's representing nearly 50 former patients, says Schneider is responding to requests for their records.“We got a box of records for our cases today,” Phillips said.

Phillips says there are now three separate investigations into the practice, and says Mrs. Schneider may be under a microscope as well.

Family members, friends and former employees say she was the office manager for years, and was in charge of all Medicaid billing. On Wednesday, the case attracted national attention from CNN's Anderson Cooper.“The combination of the financial incentive to do more procedures, to be paid by tooth, exactly,” Cooper said.

And now Schneider's doors are closed to new patients and treatment staff is gone.“She may be trying to strike while the iron is hot, because if Dr. Schneider's practice is drying up and if he is out of business for the rest of his life, there will be limited assets both personal and corporate,” Phillips said.We reached out multiple times in person and on the phone but got no answers. The attorney general would not confirm if Mrs. Schneider is part of the investigation.

The Department of Justice also wouldn't confirm if it has launched its own investigation but Phillips says it has, and has requested copies of his clients' complaints. He says they plan to meet to discuss the Schneider case in late July.

Former pediatric dentist claims ex-wife handled business finances

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — A former pediatric dentist, who is accused of hurting children and is under investigation for Medicaid fraud, said his now ex-wife handled the finances for his decades-old business.Action News was the first to report that a criminal investigation into Dr. Howard Schneider was underway. The state reports that the pediatric dentist received more than $4 million in Medicaid payments since 2010.Action News attempted to speak with Schneider at his Riverside home Tuesday about the divorce agreement between him and his wife of 15 years, Deborah Schneider. Their divorce was finalized on June 4, less than three weeks after Deborah Schneider accused him of blocking her from their accounts and dissipating the funds.

In a counter-petition also filed last week, the doctor makes a different claim. He says Deborah Schneider “managed all of the financial affairs of the dental practice” and without his knowledge or consent, she set up her own trust containing more than $2,057,086.38.He accuses her of establishing four other accounts including an IRA containing $40,154.52, a "Simple IRA" containing $147,902.47, and two accounts in the names of her granddaughters from her former husband containing $11,447.50 and $16,505.75.Howard Schneider now demands that Deborah Schneider, an interior decorator in Charleston, South Carolina, pay him alimony. On Tuesday, in the driveway of the home they shared for years, was a car that family members tell Action News belongs to Deborah Schneider. For minutes, Schneider sat motionless with his back to the door as Action News attempted to speak with him. He later turned and declined to open the door. A woman was also seen inside, but did not come to the door.

Schneider's family told Action News they are worried. They did not go on camera Tuesday at the advice of their attorney, but said his health and memory are failing, and he has at times not known his divorce was finalized or that his business is closed. They claim his bank accounts are near empty, and that Deborah Schneider has isolated him from his children in recent days. His family said investigators from the state's Medicaid fraud unit were at the Southside office in recent days and questioned his staff. Some office staff remain to assist former patients with record requests. They say investigators questioned that staff on both Howard and Deborah Schneider’s involvement in the billing practices that took place.Action News asked the Attorney General's Office if they are both now being investigated, but we were told it would not be appropriate for the office to comment further at this time.Deborah Schneider's divorce attorney, David Garfinkel, told Action News that he intends to file a response to the doctor's claims in a timely manner but would not elaborate on the details of that response. We also reached out to the State Attorney’s office. Their spokesperson confirmed their investigation is also ongoing.
