Chief Dan George was not in the "Windtalkers" movie. That is another story altogether. You had change your subject to Chief Dan George from Chester Nez's passing.

Please stay on the topic. :(

do other indian tribes langage similar

No, they speak different dialects of different tongues or languages. Most Natives could not pronounce well in English. They have difficult trying to speak with their tongues (meaning in their mouth like tongues) in English. They can speak their Native language better than English. We all live in North and South America but we do speak many different languages. That is why when Natives were traveling to different villages to trade for furs or other things that they wanted to trade. They came up with Native Sign Language which is almost universal only in North America and probably in South America.

Like my husband, he spoke Ojibwe with English mix in together as there were no words for English in Ojibwe. Those were new words in modern English. Cherokee language had a written Cherokee language like alphabet and sentences. This was invented by a Cherokee native over hundred or two hundred years ago. He taught the children to read and write in Cherokee. Many other Natives don't do like that what the Cherokee did. They painted on buckskins or buffalo skins with drawing that tells the story of what happen in their lives. It is like the same for Egyptian when they make pictures for their language, only that both Egyptian and Native languages are totally different ways to explain in making stories or histories.

I grew up watching movie about Native American and there always some white actors and I felt it would been nice if there where some Native Americans in the movie. Some years ago we had a Pow Wow dance here and I was talking to a Native American about it and he was upset that some white men pretended to Native American and have people pay to see it.

That is why I don't understand why Johnny Depp had to be Tonto if he does not look native at all. But really the Lone Ranger is just a make up story which is not a true character. I think many Natives, even Adam Beach, would not want to portray as Tonto. I like the old Tonto from the black and white series of the Lone Ranger. Jay Silverheel was very native. He was a Mohawk. If he had been alive, he would not like what Johnny Depp portrayed in his absent in the new movie. That was very upsetting. :(

This is my thread so I can talk about any topic I want and someone posted a list of Native American actors and actresses and Chief Dan George was not on the list and I happen to like him in 'Little Big Man'.

I am not forgetting about Chester Nez's passing, I think he was a very forgiving man to want to help White man fight a war after what White man did to the Native American . I have great respect for Native American and my daughter's father had relatives that where Native American.

I am sure other tribes could not speak in the Navajo language because it required thinking in the Navajo way. Enough said.

I said there where no Navajo in the movie as I know the tribes do not all talk the same language.

The movie 'The Lone Ranger' was a flop and I feel it was partly b/c Johnny Depp idea of what Tonto should look like. I knew up watching the 'The Lone Ranger' and thought it would been a better movie if Depp dress more like Jay Silverheel did.

Much respect to Navajo Code Talkers... they did serve our country and Japanese never cracked the code and helped Allies win the war in the Pacific.

Definitely. As a native Japanese speaker, the Navajo language is very different from the Japanese language. Most of WWII, the Japanese had been trained to listen and hear for English and other languages. Hearing any sort of Native American language would throw the Japanese off because of how different and even strange it sounded to the Japanese. I can only picture how confusing it must have been trying to crack the language of the Navajos and not being able to.

I have great respect to the Native Americans of the Americas, especially for things like this. It's time like these you can look past what country you're from (or were born in) and be grateful you're a citizen of the United States.

Sorry to hear of his passing and may you rest in peace.

I had a repair guy made a crack about a photo I have on my living room wall.
It's of a beautiful Native American family and the guy asked if that was my grandparents in a rude way. I told the jerk " I would be very proud to have them as my grandparents!" He shut up after that
