Yup, Labor Day is a bank holiday, schools are off and lots of offices and factories off for the day.

Everyone hits the road to celebrate one last holiday of the summer. I'm staying home, don't like crowds of people.

We're going camping this Monday thru Friday, after the Labor Day campers leave. :)

:wave:Reba, enjoy camping!

this has been a quiet holiday weekend for me sinced I'm still recovering from the hernia surgery. Yesterday we did go out to eat with my folks, at Olive Garden.

September is part of my favorite time of year, with the Fall colors we have here, and the Fall holidays for me. My beloved aunt has a birthday in Oct. and my mom and I spent time together last week getting her a gift, which was fun.
My birthday is also in Sept.

Lots of Harley rallies and festivities here< in my area> over Labor Day weekend.

I don't think we're going to get a lot colors this fall b/c of the drought we're having . The trees are looking very sad right now . :(

I hope you'll feel better soon . I just realize I don't have anymore aunts or uncles .

ohhhh, that is sad about the trees! :aw: Maybe there will be some rain that could at least perk them up a bit. Right now we're still very green. Been VERY hot and humid here last few days.

I'm sorry about your aunts and uncles. We have a small family - my parents and my mom's sister - that aunt we got the gift for. She's 10 years younger than my mom. My mom is maybe 79. Then we have my aunt's hubby. And my hub's sister and her partner and their teen nieces, all of whom we rarely see. My husband and his sister are far apart both in age as well as interests and life perspectives. My hub is also adopted as a toddler and I think that affects dynamics.

Mostly it's just my parents and my husband getting together as a family group. Bubbes and Zaydes dead...may their memory be a blessing.....my dad's side of the family had/has a ton of family but most we don't know, some aunts and cousins we saw at weddings during my high school years but were never close to.
Never got to know most of my mom's side of the family <except that sister> - my mom's mother was abusive and so I was kept away from her; mom's dad died when mom was in high school I think.

Thanks for well-wishes, whatdidyousay!

So far as the Labor day...there was a Laborfest here. I haven't been to it.
Lots of people outside working on yard projects.

I'm packing up my room as much as I can. Maybe will have time & energy to work on another room later.

Seems like many Sept. birthday here.
Mine's Sept. 12th. I was born 2 months early.

LoveBlue, sorry if I missed...packing up?

Families are funny that way , I may have cousins on both sides that I never met . Not many people wanted to visit when my dad was alive so I didn't get to see a lot of my uncle and aunt & cousins that lived in my state. I wasn't close to any cousins or uncle or aunts .
It's so hot right the birds don't seen to very active , I keep checking the bird bath to see if it being used and need more water.
I am trying to find a plumber but no one seem to be around on Labor Day,
I worked on it as a health aide.

 Oh, LoveBlue, I saw it, saw in other thread now about you moving.

I know when we moved to the house we're in now - we paid the movers to help pack also. It was a mess, the whole thing, financially. Better you should pack yourself if possible.

Happy for you about no more yard work and shoveling:D

Good luck!

I'm downsizing and moving to an apartment (currently renting a house). I put in an application over the weekend and may be moving by the end of the month. One of the things that was holding me back from doing this sooner was the fact that my daughter was still living with me. She moved out in July, so it's time for me to do it. (and save $$)

Thanks. And the other plus, that I keep forgetting about because it's not a big deal, is I'll have a electric dishwasher, as opposed the the manual one (me) I have now.

:ty: I understand now, yes, you will be able to enjoy yourself more with less you -have to- do and more you want to do - hopefully!

I know of other people who downsized too and were so happy.
