As some of you know I broke my leg last year in Maui. It healed great for awhile but now it pops, cracks and hurts all the time. Both my knees are bad from years of running and playing sports. Way before I broke my leg I was told I would need knee replacement surgery soon. Just wondering if any of you have been through it? I'm putting it off until I can't walk any longer.

Anyone have any good ideas to help with knee popping and pain? I wear a brace or wrap it in an ace bandage right now. My bad knee feels like it could snap at any time.

My mom had it. It was pretty sucessful. She couldnt do everything she did before but my mom was at point if not walking anymore. And my sister will need replacement in both knees at aome point.

Sorry to hear it, Angel....and No...never broke any bones...and my knees are fine.....I can sit on the floor and get right back up with no problem. I keep my weight down also....

Sorry to know about your ordeal Angel. Have you gone through at least a thorough consuktation with your doctor? Only they can say when it is likely to benefit you. Keep yourself well.

I know it's painful sometime, same here for me. I'm having difficulty with my both knee due to all kind of sports, martial artist, lot of air jumping (hang gliding, mountain climbing and such) and now I'm unable to run much. Just down to the point of walking most of the time.

I met with ortho dr few times and told me that to try few methods by legs and knees exercise, with certain foot position, you know not letting toes pointed upward, toes need to be in 45 degree position and hold your legs up for about 15 seconds and bring it back down to floor rest a bit then repeat. I also have baker cyst in the back of my right knee. If I over do it on my knee, the cyst will swell up and become brutal pain and stiffness on my knee.

So, I just wait till I no longer able to move about (even with crutches one time), then I will tell the dr I want bionic legs.....

My grandma had broke her ankle or legs at camping years ago in 2000's around but straighten to ER and got X-ray but doctor give my grandma's surgery ASAP my grandma never had ortho surgery in first place! But her second husband called my mom,my aunts and uncle about happens my grandma's but her second husband never leave my grandma 's side thanksness godness for that..when my grandma plans surgery and I never leave her side that why..but her second husband had numerous knee surgery due old and replace knee..I'm pray my grandma not get broke her ankle, knee and legs either but she can walk good..

Thanks for the replies. I had arthroscopic surgery on my right knee twice. Things have been pretty good. Then I broke my left leg and messed up my knee. I use to be a long distance runner, played softball, volleyball, water skiing etc. so I have used and abused my knees. Did physical therapy many many times, do a lot of leg exercises and have stopped the knee abusing sports. My other health condition does not help my situation. My last visit with my orthopedic surgeon was him telling me I needed knee replacement surgery and I needed it a few years ago. For now I'm just doing my best to not mess it up because surgery is the last thing I want to do. I limit going up and down my stairs as much as possible. I'm going to wait it out, if my knee goes out then I will worry about it.

I am not a doctor but it seem if you wait till your give out it would take longer to recover. I know couple of people that had knee replacement surgery , it helped both of them but it did take time to heal . I am sorry to hear you may need this done too . My left knee is getting worst , my left leg was broken when I was run over by a car at 4 yo. I hope I will not need surgery b/c I don't think Medicare would pay of it.
